Has anyone tried to replace the WE. ropes w/ amsteel and if so is it safe? I searched and don't see anything like it. Sure would do away w/ the bulk. Not sure it would hold as well. Thanks... Blacksmith.

I bought the primal steps which are similar but probably not as high of quality. I replaced the strap with a 1/4 amsteel. I bought a 50’ x1/4” amsteel winch cable from amazon for $20 and a $3 fid and spliced it on. It works well but I was using three steps as a platform and decided to pull the trigger on a ridge runner platform yesterday. I was spending way to much time screwing with the steps when trying to get setup. When I got them on right they were awesome but trying to get three at relatively the same level was a real chore I want to hunt not adjust and adjust and adjust gear.

Someone had mentioned it, I havent been able to track it down. I think its just preference. Many people prefer the wild edge ropes and some like amsteel better. I think more stay stock though. If I find the thread Ill put it up here.

Found it

I have no personal experience with the amsteel on a wild edge stepp but I remember reading someone who tried it say that you can get the knot and cam really tight but it's a hell of a time trying to undo that knot especially when it's dark and cold out.
