Waldrop Pac Seat Mod page

I will send some better pics In min it made a huge difference. I think best is if they made the seat with a bar about 3- 4” lower than the top bar off set so that it doesn’t hit your back when you sit in the chair but this works well and carry way better
Thanks! I was just looking at my seat and said, “This needs another bar about 4” below the top one.” So apparently we think alike.

So, my seat is back to squeaking again. The washers seemed to help but I guess not. I’m not sure if it’s temperature related but it was warm when it started making noise again. It was silent before.

I’m wondering if it comes from the bolt going through the spacer/plugs inside the tubes. Has anyone fixed this problem?

Haven’t really noticed any noise from mine sorry for the lack of help

I think you're onto something here. I'm betting the bolts wallow out the hole some and it starts popping and creaking. If your plugs are wood dowels like mine it would explain the temp changes affecting the noise. Mine did it a little, I'd think I'd have it fixed and then it would start again.
Aside from taking the dowel out in the tubes and replacing them, I'm short on answers too.
I might try taking the oak dowel/plug in the tubes out eventually and replace them with round delrin which is a slicker surface and might eliminate the noise.

So I took the 2 bolts out in the seat portion last night at home just to see what's going on and the holes aren't wallowed out at all. I actually had to use the ratchet to get them out after the nut was off. I took one bolt out at a time so I wouldn't lose washers. (7/16" drive on the nut/bolt).

There's 3 washers between the aluminum tubing and one next to the bolt head and one next to the nut. So 5 washers, a nut and a bolt (in case anyone drops one).
I rubbed Gulf Wax on all of the points of contact including each side of the washers, tubes and the threads of the bolts then reassembled everything.
You can get the Gulf Wax to flow with a lighter or a heat gun. A hair dryer will probably soften it too.

I couldn't get the seat to pop, creak or squeak at all but this was just after setting up in the basement.

I plan on spending a lot of time in the Pac Seat over the weekend and I have a week off coming up so I'll try to remember to update how this Gulf Wax worked.

I'll try to search for a more permanent solution but I'm no metallurgist. I'm wondering if a softer i.e. copper washer or something similar would work better than the assumingly steel ones in there now?

I did the same things w/mine but I made washers from a milk jug and added to ea. end of the bolt. No more annoying creaking.

I have some copper washers from banjo bolt brake line fittings I might have to try out in mine.
I think I could see what's going on, it almost seems like the steel washers are chewing away at the aluminum tubing causing some weird irregularities which would probably catch and pop/squeak, etc.

@Blacksmith & @Jtaylor can yall fix the squeak in my MR Popup 28 while you're at it? ;)
I'll work on it...Ha! Ha! Only kidding! Sort of. Is it coming from the plastic handle/adjustment for the frame?? If so, mine does it too.

I'm the guy when driving will tear a dash apart as soon as I get back to the garage to find a rattle from a couple dash pieces touching.

So, on my first go around I put delerin washers on every spot that made contact. I still am getting creaking. It’s so annoying!

I ended up just using the copper washers and they seem to be doing the trick, no popping or noise. The banjo bolt copper washers were a little big so I found a whole set of copper ones at Harbor Freight.
I'd think the delrin washers would work too. Is this popping happening when leaning against the tree or free standing? Could it be the kickstand/fold out part bolts popping if it's freestanding? Also I don't tighten the bolts down super tight maybe just snug plus a quarter or half turn.
Also I put some stealth strips under the seat material because I was getting weird popping coming from there once and awhile too.
Could you have a cracked weld or something??

I never had any noise but I always spray all joints with silicone lubricant and it's good for all season. I've never hunted with mine yet but I have done this on all hang on's, platforms, and chairs used for hunting and it works fine.

I sent back the one I'm using now. He sent me a return label for it. He put new bolts in it and has not made a noise since. No idea why that would work??
Weird. They're threaded all the way through which doesn't seem necessary. I'd probably prefer a bolt with an unthreaded shank through the pivoting chair portion just to reduce wear from the moving parts. Maybe there's something to having them threaded (hold lube or something)?
There was a little rust on one portion of one of the bolts on my chair. I've never left it outside overnight so it had to just be from moisture when I was hunting.
If mine starts popping or creaking again I guess my next step will be stainless bolts with an unthreaded shank through the moving parts.

Ok so I spent about a week and I have no clue how many hours on this thing and it started the "pop" from the joints again. I had a duh moment, loosened the bolts on the seat fold out to the point it almost falls open itself and no more pop. Make sure your lock nuts are in good shape so ya don't lose your bolts and washers.
This seems to have done the trick, it's worked on several hunts now. A little wax or lube of some sort doesn't hurt either.

The wax he told me to use was canning wax @ Wal Mart, comes in a block. I've not had to use it since my chair came back ???
