WE steps

I’ve been in the trap of trying to get all of those perks too. Finding out fast that it just doesn’t exist. Not yet anyway. I’m choosing comfort and reliability and will put up with a slightly bigger set up with slightly more weight. Thinking of getting the lone wolf sticks again. Maybe will try the helium’s every raves about. Anyone have thought on either climbing system? Recommend one over the other? Reasons?

I have Lone Wolfs I cut down, added a bottom stick aider (I can move to the next sticks if I want to get higher), added amsteel daisy chain and stealth strips. I know they're pretty pricey to cut but it made a big difference on overall bulk. Seems like Heliums are a good bang for your buck but I've never owned a set and probably won't since the Lone Wolfs are working. I'll probably keep the WE Stepps for use in really crooked trees, when I'm going really far back or until I'm done looking at em in the garage.

This is my first season hunting with the WE steps & I loved the idea of lightweight & compact. I had two significant incidents (falls) which are going to make me consider other options for the future. First incident was an 8ft slide down the tree. The second was a lesser fall of about two feet only because I landed on the step below as I was decending. Say what u want about practice, but remember to wear your bulkiest cold weather gear too. I had no issues when wearing early season warmer weather boots, but struggled once I switched to anything else. At the risk of sounding like the old curmudgeon, I never had an incident in my first 30 years of hunting from stands. With two incidents this season it has definitely rattled my confidence.

Ya I like the packability of the steps but have had some issue with the steps and perch to look at alternative climbing methods.
