Webbing bridge on Mantis

Just food for thought. I like reading all the posts on here and want you guys around to keep posting great ideas.

Hence the water knot is always supposed to be finished up with a barrel backup on both tail ends. A proper water knot is safe and industry standard in the climbing and mountaineering world.

I saw a guy on the saddlehunter facebook page just fell 20' in the last few days using webbing and an overhand knot. He apparently didnt inspect it before use.

Wow surprised we aren’t hearing more about it here?
Guys be careful I remember someone saying a while back it wasn’t a matter of “if” but “when” someone was going to fall. The only sure way to never fall is to never climb. Check your gear!

IMHO, these homemade webbing tethers should be sewn as well as knotted.

If it’s sewn with a ball point needle and with the proper thread and tension and pattern.

If not, it could be less safe, or no safer, and yet create a sense that it is.

Having it professionally sewn certainly would be good. And by professionally, I don’t mean a seamstress. I mean someone certified to sew life support equipment.

Otherwise, the proper knot, properly dressed, and properly stoppered, is the safest thing you can do.

I have converted to a tubular style sling recently and probably check those tag ends every 5 mins right now lol. Scary thoughts about slippage. I took another members suggestion to use a stopper knot .

Old thread, but I’m playing with a webbing bridge on tri-glides so I can adjust it to find the most comfort.

What type of stopper knot is recommended on the tag?

As I recall an overhand knot, and some folded the end over on itself and sewed it. I am no expert though.

Overhand on a bight or water knot not a normal overhand knot..... don’t want to sound rude just wanted to clarify! And yes stitching the tag ends a good idea also!

How long of Webbing are you using? Nice to have a range of 12 inch bridge out to 30 plus. Think the stock on my Mantis is 24, or maybe 30, have to check.

I got the 6’ webbing from @DanO. I think that’ll be more than enough. I’m not sure if shorter or longer is what I need, but trying to alleviate some slight hip pinch that made long sits tough.
