Weird Tethrd Thing on Here

I'm a brand new Saddle Hunter. Joined this site about 3 months ago. This is what I have observed.

If a topic of discussion is about a Tethrd product, it's put through more scrutiny than any other brand. It's like I got adopted into a family to realize there was a strong sibling rivalry or something. I'm sure there have been product issues of the past, and maybe I'm naive to really understand what quality saddle hunting gear looks like, but there is an obvious bias against a lot of their products.

When I decided to get into the SH game, Tethrd was the only name I knew of. They are probably single handedly responsible for the SH boom of the last few years. Which makes it more odd.

They release a new product like the Carbon Fiber Platform and it gets picked apart with several post warning of using it before even knowing much about it, simply because it is from Tethrd. What am I missing?

It's a weird SH.com thing where Tetherd's CFP is bad and an upgraded 5 gallon bucket seat is cool.

Anyway, I guess I'm the new kid wondering what the deal is.

*No I'm not a secret Tethrd rep...
 
There are butt hurt people on here like Kyler1945 who thinks Tethrd owes this site and some of its people a debt of gratitude because they met on this site and started a company. Yeah, they took their own money and time and started a business that steam rolled the hunting community by storm and people on here don’t like it.

Now- you can lock the thread. Lol!

Tethrd's history is a lot longer than three months. Different people have different opinions about that history.

All companies are subjected to the same criticism when they release new products. If you really want to see a new product get slammed go read the thread when OOAL came out with their first platform. Or when Aerohunter came out with any of their saddles after the Kite.

When people have positive experiences and 'like' a company it appears like 'their guys' are getting picked on more than others, when in reality it's just the people who didn't have positive experiences voicing their opinions. It's all in your perspective.

As far as the thread getting locked that probably won't happen unless (more) people start making inflammatory posts and name calling, so lets keep it civil please.

Saddle hunters are like hipsters. Saddlehunters were saddlehunting before it was cool. Now that tethrd is very popular and mainstream, saddlehunting is becoming less hipster. Hipsters don’t like the mainstream and therefore some saddlehunters, especially the hardcore hipsters don’t like tethrd. Lol

I actually had a Tethrd product that warranted a return/replacement. Customer service was excellent. So not all my experiences with Tethrd were perfect. This is true with dozens of different products over my lifetime.

But this seems different. It’s seems like people assume the product is bad until Gen 2 comes out. I don’t think I’m just “fan boying” their products. There are other products from other companies I really want to try.
 
I didn't know about saddle hunting until about 3 years ago so I know nothing of the history of this or that brand. But regardless of what you might think about their products or popularity, they have been successful at developing their brand. They have a big presence online and have indeed helped push the saddlehunting industry into more mainstream hunting circles. To me it's like comparing all tissues to Kleenex brand. Thousands of brands make them, but everyone seems to compare to Kleenex. I just appreciate that the competition amongst brands drives ingenuity and improved quality or options overall. I just get to pick and choose what I like from each of them. I have nothing against criticism of any said product; hopefully it is constructive and drives the progress on...
