What's up y'all? So as my bad luck would have it I'm stuck inside due to having Covid. So i was thinking since i'm tired of tv what would be some suggested reading that you would suggest for a new deer hunter like myself? I know that there is no better way for finding deer other than going into their home and searching for them. But in a bunch of my earlier posts some of you suggested doing some actual reading about whitetail deer. What books do you think will help me the best. I want to understand everything I can about them. How the feed, how they move, I mean everything.

I really enjoyed “Treestand strategies” by Barry & Gene Wensel. In fact I’ll probably reread that now that I’m thinking about it..
Anything by Gene or Barry is fantastic, but their books are getting harder to find and usually command a high price. There's a copy of Hunting Rutting Whitetails on Ebay for $124 right now. Ha, I paid $15 for it back in around 1983.

If you get tired of reading you might want to listen to some of the podcast from The Stickboys, esp the ones with Alan Altizer and Nathan Killen. There is a lot of deer killin knowledge between those 2 guys. All of the woodsmanship episodes have been great.
^^^This.
Those podcasts with Altizer and Killen are usually under the title of "Woodsmanship". Those guys are excellent.
There are some podcasts where they read from Roger Rothhaar's books too.
Also some Wensel interviews on Stickboys.

Bowhunting Public Land Whitetails by Tony Peterson is a good one.
Ordered this one just now. I can recommend any of the Eberhart books and though not a book, the DVD's and Youtube videos by Dan Infalt are also very good.

I have books on deer biology, and on deer tactics, but the one's that inspire me the most are stories about monomaniacal hunting personalities and their pursuit of whitetail deer (as well as tales of hunting culture and lore). Nature study and science help us understand what we pursue, but these other subjects maybe help us understand something of ourselves...and why we don't just settle for farm raised medallions.

Life at Full Draw: The Chuck Adams Story has that overtone.
