What Boots Do You Wear?

I am using the Cabelas 400 gram lock down boots. They are basically a hiking boot with a built in gator for when you need a high boot that is 100% waterproof. They also have a thick sole on them that is comfy for standing on Ameristeps for long periods of time, plus they don't carry the odor of rubber boots. You get the lightweight comfortable hiking boot with the water proof capability of a rubber boot. Win Win in my book.

I guess I wanted to see if anyone used a stiff boot for lineman or arborist, since the stiff sole might be more comfortable when standing on a tree bolt or screw in for hours?
I spent 10 hours on a 3/4" squirrel step yesterday while wearing Muck Fieldblazers, and plan on sitting all day today. There's going to be pressure on your feet, sure. But the trick is evenly distributing your weight between your feet, knees, and saddle. Very little weight is on my feet usually.

That being said, I'm sure a stiffer insole would provide more support. Just isn't as big of a deal as you might think.

Rubber uninsullated Redheads until it hits freezing then I wear my Sorel with felt liners that I’ve had for 33 years!
The Sorels of yesteryear. same thing I do, early season is my knee high lacrosses, but once it’s frozen out, the sorrels I got back in 1984 come out. Can’t beat them. ( ok, I can’t stand spending when I don’t need to.)

I envy the people who can wear 800g boots in the 40s and not get cold. Always have had temperature issues with my feet. Been using a pair of cabelas trans Alaska pac boots this year. They are big, bulky and terrible on steep terrain because they lack ankle support. But at least my feet are only cool and not cold.
