What did you do today?

I bought a used electric guitar with amp for $50. I have had no lessons. I played my wife's acoustic guitar the last few days. I looked on FB marketplace and this was listed 17 minutes away so away I went. It is a Fender Squire and a Crate amp. It hums a bit. I haven't figured out how to make distorted rock sounds. It seems easier to tune, I guess it's stiffer, and easier to play a few chords than my wife's guitar, it seems like the neck is thinner.. It seems like a normal guitar except you don't have to strum as hard to play it loud.

Went and shot some trap today. FYI DanO’s pouches make the perfect shell holder!

"Experts" have told me hanging the aiders from the holes at the end of the step will break the steps but I didn't believe them. Mine tied through the holes have not broken so far.

Finally got a preset for SRT/DRT up yesterday. This was attempt #2 as the first attempt was a disaster. First attempt my throwline got tangled so badly in the cube that it all ended up two feet out of my reach. Luckily there was a low enough limp I could throw my climb line over so I could climb up to recover it. Then breakfast started to not agree with me and I got some nausea as I was climbing so I sat on a convenient limb for a long time. Climbed down and hooked my paracord to the climb line and it got jammed up in the spool and ended up coming off the line which then came out of the tree.

Second time went much smoother. One of the two momma does I'd been seeing out the back door was at the spot I setup where I couldn't see her as she snorted at me. Got everything setup this time, do need to take a saw with me next time to take an annoying limb blocking a the main shooting lane. Few hours later saw the other momma with triplets 50 yards out my back door. Then noticed one of the two bucks that were hanging around the family lurking near the preset spot.

Hope to get more spots setup when I'm on vacation next week on the main farm I hunt.

I hadn't heard that before. I know that the weight being on the outer edge would leverage it a bit more than close to center, but not enough that I'd see them break. I'll make sure to keep an eye on that- thanks for the heads up.

Last few days have been hectic.

Gained access and walked a new property for early season deer on Saturday. Saw 3 while walking and the landowner showed me two nice euros from bucks his son and himself shot last season, late.

Yesterday, shot the bow, TWICE, and did my gender reveal via Tannerite! It's a boy! (First boy, second kid) Scent free washed all hunting clothes and applied permethrin. Sprayed clothes with Scentlok carbon spray, let dry and sealed in my clothes tote.

TODAY, bear opener. Going in with my PSE and Tethrd Phantom, one sticking my way up and self-filming. LFG!!!!

Only half your weight is on the hole at the end of the step so it should hold. For me 90 lbs or so.

I can see perhaps the part where the rope goes through the holes possibly failing as you're putting stress on just that sliver of metal. Plus I'd say your ropes wouldn't like it much easier in heavy use.

Put this momma in the cooler.

I have questions. First, what do you neighbors think of a dead alligator in your driveway? I too process at home and turn it into a community even. Second, what all can you eat off a gator? Tail, I’m assuming legs, jaw meat? Anything else?

I was smart enough to clean it in a buddies driveway, not mine! We tried to hide it with coolers stacked up, but folks could smell that thing from the next county over. They were a tad bit shocked when they finally saw what it was.

From what I understand, that is all you want to eat off a gator.

Also, @bj139, fill me in on the squire. 22 frets or 21? Affinity, bullet, standard? I'm a bit of an enthusiast. If you know what model crate you have, I might can also tell you if/how to crank some distortion through it. Worst case scenario a cheap pedal will get you some crunch and fuzz.

Shoot, a gator is a gator in my books.

I was surprised she only measured 9 ft 2. It was about 11 inches from her eyes to snout, which was a little deceiving. She was a fatty and I’m super happy with it.
Yeah, our biologist likes to say each inch from eyes to snout is a foot of length. He's wrong. End of discussion.
