I've been fooling with the youtube channel for about a year and a half now. It's been incredibly fun and very humbling to see the support folks have given it. The idea that folks have clicked "play" on those videos over 3,000 times in the past two days is absolutely mind-blowing.
I've got enough content up and it's been up for long enough that I've noticed some trends. The most obvious is that y'all seem to REALLY like the gear review videos. So here's my question.
What gear do you want to see reviewed, and what kind of information are you usually looking for in review videos? What's valuable to you? I'd love to be able to give every product a full season of hunt time before I did anything with it, but that's just not possible. Unboxing videos seem to be the other end of the spectrum and I personally find them worthless, but apparently folks watch them because the few I've done perform well. So what counts as a good review period? A hunt or two? 4 or 5? I generally feel I can say I either like or don't like a piece of gear after a good weekend of using it, but that's just me.
I'm open to feedback on what you want reviewed and what you want to see mentioned in those videos. And, in the off chance that any of you have some extra gear lying around that you'd be willing to let me borrow a week or two, shoot me a PM. I have accepted freebies and discounts from companies in the past, but prefer not to go that route in order to avoid bias (real or perceived) and because I'd rather see the companies make money selling product for the asking price.
And...just so y'all know...I did order a wireless lapel mic. Took me long enough, right?
