What is current "state of the art" rappel gear for SH?

correct. I basically do the same as this video here:

schwabisch above ATC and autoblock on my right loop
So why do you have both hitches? One above and one below? I'm not really into autoblocks, never knew why that's better than any other friction hitch. Seems like you're tending both hitches?

Honestly, for me, I'm the backup for my backup guy. I just feel better having the auto block while I'm suspended. The hitch works fine and as intended

Just watched the video. That’s slicker’n owl dookie. I’ll make a few test runs in the backyard give that a go.

I’m always fussing with the tag end of my tether too and this will allow me to simply leave the tag end in the pouch until time to come down.

The only thing I will say about it, is he appears to have a lot easier time tending his while ascending. While I have climbed with it and it does tend, for whatever reason I had to fiddle with mine just a little bit, but as far as the rappel goes, you can't beat it for a non Mad Rock setup

My first two tears saddle hunting I used 10mm HTP rope and an ATC. If I didn't one stick and SRT now, I would go back to that simple setup.

Didn't mean to offend if I did. After rereading through I realize others were helped by meandering. Again, playing moderator helps no one. Lo siento.

i have madrock safeguard and oplux 8mm simple. You have to do what you feel is safe and comfortable. if you want a stopper, do it. if not, don't.
