what kind of permethrin are you using?

from what I have read, if it dosent have petroleum in it it dosent stick to clothes very good. since the petroleum is the carrier and some of this stuff is not intended for use on clothes.

The petroleum is to keep it more rain/water proof. The petroleum embeds the material/ animal hair, and resist the water like most petroleums do.
I would agree that it would last longer and probably more affective. But the smell just isn't worth it imo

Not sure if the Sawyers has any kind of petroleum base, but it sure does work. It's pretty crazy to look down on my pants and see a bunch of seed ticks all shriveled up. I hate those little bastards.

How strong is the petroleum smell? Like worried a deer may smell it, or you sit there smelling yourself?

I used a brand that had petroleum distillates once on my clothes the night before a hike. The smell on the clothes the next day was bad enough to give me a headache if I wore them indoors.

@catman529 has a pretty good video review on his YouTube channel. If I remember correct I think he said the Sawyer smelled like it possibly had Petroleum distillates in it. The real question when it comes to that odor is do the deer relate that smell to Danger? Probably not unless somebody who has used it on their clothes has been busted. I think deer don't mind as many odors as we think they do. I've seen them lick grease off of a backhoe in a chemical plant. If there was ever a petroleum-based product that's pretty good one. But they do mind one odor, and that's us, because they relate it to Danger. I think too many times people correlate getting busted to some smell that They carried in the woods whether it be scented soaps, perfumes, gas on their boots, so on and so forth. When really the thing that the deer is reacting to is the smell of the human. But all that said I still use the Martins that is free of petroleum distillates. Only because I don't want to smell that smell myself. And it's cheap enough when you buy it concentrated to put it in a pump sprayer and hose your clothes down. A bottle last a really long time.

Tractor Supply Company carries the concentrated Permethrin on the shelf in most stores.

I DESPISE ticks! My daughter got Lyme disease when she was 2 yrs old, and I got the Alpha-Gal "meat" allergy (can't eat any mammals) about 7 years ago.

Horrible, hate to read this.

I also use the stuff from Tractor Supply (the concentrate). Not sure if it's petroleum based or not but I don't recall having a smell afterwards. I'll check when I get home.

As another alpha-gal suffer, albeit mild symptoms, I would give another thumbs up to Martin's Permethrin 10% Multi-Purpose Insecticide, 32oz. I get it from Amazon for $25. Worth it at double the price!!! Sawyers works great. It just got too expensive to use the premixes.

I found what I was looking for....

This is what I use as well.
