What the heck, Texas...?

Kill me now..... No way

Ya, that year all the radio stations had contests for cash prizes (pay your electric bill etc..) if it made it a full 100 days. I thought it was funny that it was EXACTLY 100 days so they all had to pony up. I never did win any money though.

My favorite time of year. I will be scouting, cutting trails and shooting lanes all day tomorrow. Staring into the trees with the sun going down right now.

We can look forward to it cooling off in time for early bow season. Temps will be down to mid 90’s which sounds really nice after this week.

I’m hoping for 93 or below on the opener!
The hotter it gets, the less I trust my “just off” winds. I can get a little rank at the higher temps.

I usually only hunt mornings until it drops below 90, Ozonics and noze jammer are a must and I take a small battery powered fan early season.

That’s crazy... I’m in Mississippi and we only working with the 95-100 range here... and that’s bad enough.. working outside in this heat is about to kill me though. Perks of having a wife that’s a nurse, she’s bringing me home an bag of fluids and gonna give me an IV tonight. Makes you feel 10000 times better! I drink at least a gallon of water a day and about 3 big gatorades in between, but I sweat so dang bad it still seems like it’s not enough. I feel bad for y’all Texans that are in the 100+ range.

My wife is a nurse also I don't know why I have not thought of this. I drink pretty close to 2 gallons of water a day(and very rarely if ever take a piss). I started cutting grass at 6 a.m. and I finished my last account at a quarter to 8. At 3 I was actually looking forward to the last two, which are the hardest accounts I have, just because I knew it would cool off some. There's nothing you can do when you cut 18 yards in one day by yourself to get any relief. Hot is just hot there's not much you can do about it. The humidity has been terrible the last few days there's absolutely no drying off. There's absolutely nothing that could make me want to do prep a tree on my off day in this heat. I think tomorrow I only have to cut 12, but 6 of those are over an acre. I'm so ready for December.

I hate cutting grass in this weather, you tend to develop the extreme soggy bottom and your just sitting in it... and yeah, so much humidity you stay wet unless a lot of breeze comes through or find a fan... I’ve been taking an extra change of clothes with me to work lately... by lunch time, I’m just flat out nasty..... I wipe down with baby wipes and change and that makes a world of difference, for about an hour anyways ha, it’s more of a moral boost than anything

And get her to hook you up with a bag of fluids every now and then, definitely perks up your insides ha

I'll tell you what since you're talking about the Soggy Bottom, there's no way I can make it through a day without using Body Glide. I used to get so chafed from not drying off all day I wouldn't hardly be able to walk when I got home. When my wife first brought it home I looked at her crazy and "I said what am I supposed to do with this?" She said put it on your butt. So now I'll put it on my butt, everyday to keep from getting chafe. I can't imagine working without it. The only thing more important to have all day besides bodyglide, is water in this heat. And I already asked her if she'll bring me home fluids for the weekend and she said yes. Score for me! Nothing says relaxation like a pint of ice cream in an IV.

Well boys the rut is on and has been for a week at my house. I can’t wait to get home season starts in two weeks. My wife said heat index was 105 and 95% humidity.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say 100 degrees isn’t hot as Satan’s genitals, but i stayed in Vegas for almost two months(quite a few years ago), and it was over 100 everyday for three weeks straight. I can remember the thermometer reading 115 and in the shade, it didn’t feel all that bad. Now when you walked out into the sun, you could literally feel your skin cooking off... it would be 110 but seemed to feel 85 because it was so dry. Here in Mississippi, the whole south for that matter, we will have a day that’s 98 but a 115 heat index because of the humidity (and y’all know that’s a heat you can’t escape from in the shade)... another thing that sucks about this heat is in the afternoons, about 3-4oclock, it will rain for about 20 minutes, then the sun comes out, and the humidity sky rockets. I would take the dry 110 day over our southern 95 any day... I know you central/east Texas fellas know what I’m talking about. I’m gonna invent a silent dehumidifier that runs off batteries that I can carry with me on those early season hunts when it’s still in the 90’s.. when I do, I’ll hook all the southern boys up with one haha. But seriously, you guys in that 110 range need to be careful, nothing to play with.

I’m in south La. I know exactly what you mean. Heat index today is 115

Starting off the day right. Only got down ton86 as the low last night.

Humidity is 55% and the expected high is 106

I can’t wait until our Colorado vacation in a couple weeks!

yes it is hot here bongo. There is a front to the north of us that is sucking moisture and warm air from the SW. Lots of rain for areas N of tampabay which makes the rest of the state humid and miserable. skeeters are starting to pick up too. It is going to be hot out in the woods. I have not seen a deer yet on my way home due to the heat.

Central FL is miserable right now but my buddy got these pics yesterday morning
