What to purchase.........

I also prefer my trophyline....I have a modified Sit/drag with rc harness backup as well.
Comfort has been stated before....you must condition yourself....Saddle time and finding your settings can really only be done by you. Yes members here can post what works for them but in reality it ultimately comes down to personal trial and error.
Good luck with whatever saddle you get, give it some time and don't give up after only a couple hunts.
This is very true. There are a few general rules that seem to be pretty true across the board, like an eye-level hookup, and a 24"ish bridge, but there's even some wiggle room in those guidelines. Saddle hunting is very personal. The only way to get it dialed in is to practice.

Are you sure it wasn't August. Like red said they were not even making them in April they had the evolution not the Kestrel. I am just as confused as Red. I ordered mine on April 16th and that was the first day that you could order it and I order by phone and I got mine on September 14th.

I made a linesman rope today. I had carabiners in the closet, as well as about 30 feet feet of 11mm double braid rope. Since it was free.... I ordered a Ropeman 1. I tried the linesman rope out on my climbing sticks, and I have to admit, adjusting the prusik knot sucks. But it is definitely better than not using one, which I am embarrassed to say is what I have always done in the past. I bet my existing tether used for my harness/stand setups will work with a saddle. Even if it doesn't, I have plenty of rope to make a new one. Next is to understand what size rope is used for the bridge. Then get my hands on a new saddle.

Hi guys. New question. I just came across the Muddy Pro climbing sticks. The cleat and rope idea is genius. I had my mind set on the Heliums but now I am rethinking. The only negative I see is it looks like almost a two pound addition to weight. Weight is one of things I am really trying to cut by switching to saddle. Thoughts? LW is also on the radar because I could swap the straps to ropes without any hardware changes. Pete

It all boils down to personal preference. How much of a price difference is there?

The weight is annoying. I agree. However, the Muddy sticks are much more compact and pack easier. I have both LW and Muddy sticks. I'm not sure which one I like better.

I have an entire year to figure it out, so I have plenty of time to weigh my options. I guess a lot of it in the end will have to do with how I am going to pack and carry. I really want to minimize my gear. I think I should be able to get away with a fannypack of small sling pack, but the sticks and platform (Jim's stepps are on the top of the list) are what is causing some pause. I may just sling the sticks over a shoulder as well and not even consider securing them to any type of a pack.

I am using a traditional backpack right now, and have been for fifteen years. It is big enough to toss some clothes in there. I determined that it is really unnecessary because I can always just strap my clothes to whatever I am carrying in to the woods.

Having a fun time trying to figure it all out. This forum has been a plethora of information.

Pete
