Over the last several years and for whatever reason, my feet have begun to sweat. I never had problems keeping my feet warm until now. Well it just so happens it's time for me to get some new huntin socks. What can you guys recommend and more specifically I'm looking for a warm weather(60°+) and a cold weather(30°-) socks. I used to have some smart wool socks but cant remember how well they performed, especially when damp. I'm planning on starting to change my socks after walking in however I'm hesitant because of the scent factor and I'll wind up using a noisy ziplock to store em in. Thanks in advance!

I use Scent lok’s light weight merino crew sock for warm weather and their heaviest merino sock for cold weather. I have been pleased with performance, and they were very cheap during their annual clearance sale.

Swapped from merino to alpaca a few years ago. Never looked back. There is a thread on this already and alpaca socks.
Thanks I'll check that out because I was planning on a merino but I have some already but was looking for something better...either brand or material

I actually have a pair of those lightweight socks and those are one of the worst once damp. Albeit , they are about 10yrs old. On another note, I was disappointed when I recently found out these scentlok socks dont actually have the scentlok material in em! Still good socks though

Omni-Wool Tactical. I wear their mid-wieght "Medium Weight Utility Boot" socks year round. Merino/poly blend. They make Light, medium, heavy, and arctic weights. VERY affordable for good socks.

These Gore merino blended socks are far and away the best sock I ever owned. Their moisture wicking ability is incredible; even when my boots are soaked, my feet feel dry in these things. Sadly I only bought 3 pairs and I can't find them for sale anywhere. I've read Gore discontinued them which is a crying shame.

I have some Darn Tough merino socks that are nice, but don't hold a candle to the Gore socks.

I am really liking my alpaca socks for cold weather. I also like the darn tough merino wool. I usually use a fox river liner with what ever sock I wear. There is a huge misconception that moving moisture away from you skin will facilitate evaporation. This is true only if you are wearing a boot/shoe that allows it to escape. Rubber boots will not allow this to happen and your feet will get cold if they have sweated. In those cases one of the best things you can do is pack in a pair of dry socks to change into after you cool down - especially on long cold hunts in a tree stand.

I am going to start to sound like @rickyracer, but for cold weather, I bought the lamilite socks, and they work great!

You wear them as socks and not over socks. Wicks sweat away and works for me. The wool and Bama socketts stay in my other unused hunting clothes.

I have several pair of Lorpen merino wool socks and some thicker Alpaca wool socks.
I prefer the regular Lorpen socks for most hunts... Alpaca if it's really cold.

I’m up in Wisconsin. Alpaca socks with putting antiperspirant on the night prior to hunting. I’ve been wearing muck wetland boots for most of my hunts with zero issues over 4 hours or so.

However, it’s been pretty mild so far this year so time will tell. My tag goes till the end of January so I’m sure I’ll test out the worst. Unless I tag out sooner...

Used to be a patrol sock, but now I prefer Darn Toughs.

Yea no carbon alloy, but cheaper wool socks. Got em at a deep discount, so taking with a grain of salt.

I wear these. They don't work real well hunting but they make me feel pretty.

Feeling good about yourself makes things better at the office or in the woods.

In our brutal December weather I wear merino socks or whatever is clean. Last weekend I wore ankle socks and had to fight mosquitoes.

How are they size wise compared to boot sizes? Thought about getting some, but size is always a concern when ordering without being able to try them.

I wear size 13 boots. I ordered the 13 socks. The socks did not have much length left over, if any. I always have a little extra length left in the boots.

If in doubt, call wiggies or maybe order one size up.

On another note, after I reference rickyracer wrt wiggys, he goes all ballet on me.

Bought a pack of Costco merino hiking socks. Between those and my insulated Tidewe boots. My feet have stayed pretty warm this season.
