Which one are you??

I’m none of these lol I’ll say this til I die, never cared about horns, a world record buck I couldnt care less about. Bc no matter how big the horns you can’t eat them. A full freezer is better any day of the week.
I don't care what you kill if you're happy then you're happy. But a deer with bigger horns usually has more meat. I always tell people this, if you're a meat hunter why wouldn't you want to shoot a deer with more meat on them. Usually more mature deer have more meat on them.

When men were men we didn't run around seeking approval from strangers all the time. Hunt quietly, no one cares. Social media is sick.
Well put... I don't care what you shoot, and I certainly don't care what you think of mine...I'd rather shoot a doe every night than wait all year on one shot at a giant that everyone else won't approve of anyway..JM2CTS.

I think the saying goes “More isn’t always better”. Also not looking for more just looking for enough.

On the farm we try to pass all 1.5 year olds and younger.

87yr old gramps gets a pass on the above rule and shoots whatever he wants, he’s earned it.

Occasionally we have friends/family that have never hunted or haven’t ever gotten a buck. They also get a pass to shoot whatever they want for their first deer.

On public I’m shooting whatever gets me excited, so pretty much anything bigger than a spike, and depending on the time of year and gags left, a spike lol. I’ll usually pass on does in/around the rut because you never know when a buck is around the corner.

After the 2 week gun season is over, the does become target numero uno until the 2nd rut kicks up.

Yeah I only bow hunt public land in Louisiana only qualifier to get murked is don’t have spots lol
Same here. I hunt way too many days to pass up a shot on a living breathing deer with my bow. The only thing that will keep me from shooting is spots. Can't be letting the wife see me bringing home dead baby deer...

A couple years ago I my buddy's wife shot a nice buck. All 3 of us are standing there, it's the rut so I keep using my bleat or grunt every few minutes. Another deer comes walking in towards us, I think dang that's weird that does responding to a call but hey, she's jerky, so I smoker her. Well it was actually the smallest spike I'd ever seen. But like I said, no spots so it got turned into jerky.

That vealison is hard to beat.
My first deer was a button buck whose only buttons were under his tenderloins. Thought he was a small doe. Dressed out around…50 pounds? 60? No spots though.

Turned every “it’s too gaaammmmeeeeyyyy” whiner in the family into a venison snob.

I can't wait to work the word "murked" into a conversation soon.

I know Brodie well and I can assure you his intent with that article is far from shaming and judging. He recently posted on his FB page about people shaming others over what they kill and is holding a contest for the biggest spike with some gear/swag give-a-ways. I think his intent was less about judgement and more about the lengths hunters will go to in order to protect their ego from good natured hunt camp ridicule when the deer wasn't what they thought it was. Nicknames tend to stick and you don't want to wind up being called "Dinker" for the next 30 years by your buds.

Tell him to amend to contest next year to Mean Spike and award the prize to the spike closest to the average size
