Been using a lone wolf assault and full length lone wolf sticks for years. Finally bit the bullet and bought a saddle. Decided to cut down my lone wolfs. 17" long and 15" step to step. Did not need to drill any new holes.

Anyone out there using cut lone wolfs. Or does everyone end up just buying some beasts, shikars, lwcgs, etc?

I cut mine. Relocated the button using the one from EWO, so I only had to cut one hole.

Just this year I cut my ole LW sticks down for a 20" step. I put EWO double steps on the upper step and whipped up some amsteel daisy chains for them.
My plan is to use them for any quick setup I plan to use.

I was a WEI Stepp guy for years because I have that system down cold (they rock) - but like lots of folks I am searching for the Holy Grail...

In fact, I am putting on order in tonight for some Treehopper bolts and a drill - I am afflicted with that saddle hunting disease and I pray there isn't a cure discovered too soon.

I do, but with a double step up top, and double step with aider on bottom. There’s better sticks out there I guess, but these work great and no plans to replace any time soon.

I do. About 18in steps with EWO anodized double steps and two step aiders.

I had a set several years ago and have gone back to them this year. Exactly the same dimensions as yours.

For the money you can't beat them. Light, packable, and a time-tested design. I may mod them to side stack ala @GBlevins92. Then again, I may not. They work.

I tried the blevins stack. It’s good but not perfectly. Good mod though, u can replace every bolt besides steps with this little nut stopper things

I'm going to run them this season and see how it goes. I hope I'm not overly tempted to buy beasts or shikars.

I went all out on mine saved a ton over new 22" beast sticks. Was a fun summer project but very time consuming drilling the weight reduction holes (Saved a pound on 4 sticks) To some thats not much but they do have a cool factor. They are 24" with 22" step plus 20" cable aiders(not shown) . I added the cable aiders after finding out it really sucks climbing down in the dark with any flimsy aider. I used the original LW standoffs with ewo ultralight doublestep top and bottom and ewo aiders. They weigh in at a little over 7 lbs with amsteel mod. No idea what the aiders add for weight guessing close to a pound for all 4.

I still use mine. Chopped to 22 inches, ewo double steps on top and bottom, cable aiders, modded versa buttons with amsteel daisy chains. Been slowly drilling and countersinking them for a year or so whenever I get a little time

I cut mine, full video of it on my YouTube. Much better cut.

Cutting down LW sticks is a great option. But if you didn't drill any holes then that says to me that you kept the top two steps and chopped off the bottom. The versa button would then be right in the middle of your short stick, but it should really be 2/3's of the way up the stick like all the manufacturers do. Less chance of the stick kicking out with the versa button up higher. There's a reason they put the button up there...
