The SH Membership has gone live. Only SH Members have access to post in the classifieds. All members can view the classifieds. Starting in 2020 only SH Members will be admitted to the annual hunting contest. Current members will need to follow these steps to upgrade: 1. Click on your username 2. Click on Account upgrades 3. Who's going elk hunting this year?

i have an open invitation from my uncle who lives in Colorado that when i'm ready and can get a tag, he's ready to be my "guide" and has all the gear we need since he/ his kids hunt, but i need to practice more before i take advantage of that type of opportunity. Are you all bow hunting? or gun? if i went after elk with my current skillset it'd be gun.
I go out in 3rd rifle. I let my buddy who guides me hunt during the rut since that is his favorite time to hunt them. I mean yes, I would love to chase them with a bow some day but honestly the experience being out west in those mountains is amazing in itself. Also, since I fly I don't take a gun. I shoot his 7mm mag so traveling is as easy as it gets. One carry on and away I go.
Bow but go with what you are comfortable with for that type of trip.

I go with a bow, nothing wrong with chasing them with a gun to gain experience. Tough critters that need to be hit good with a bow.
