Widening a sit drag

Calms me while watching Fox news. Hubby checked on me a few times while I was doing this. He got worried not hearing me screaming at the TV.:D

Well no pics but still coming along. I finished the hand stitching on the tactical belt and the top "support" webbing. This also goes down the top sides to form a continuous side to side climbing loops. The ones on the harness are way too small and far back. the loops were commercially sewn and were part of the sit drag suspension belts. I just got high strength webbing today to finish the Leg straps. This will be machine sewn loops on a continuous strap from side to side a bit under the bridge loops. That should also give me added bottom support. I have military grade G buckles for the leg straps themselves. I have some machine sewing to do and the top cover to sew on, making sewn slits for the waist belt to feed through and molly webbing along the back. Sounds like a lot but compared to hand sewing no.
I have had a lot of an issue with my harness buckles being "pinched" under the sit drag mod. making things a bit uncomfortable. Have to try out a couple of different harness with smaller or differently placed leg buckles.

I just about completed my own diy using the speedy stitcher. Took a few good nights of sewing 2-3 hours at a time. Just something to kill some time before bed. I'll have to post up some pictures. The stitching is by no means the prettiest but I've jumped around it it hanging and I feel pretty well secure. Paired with a harness I look forward to getting some hang time.

Why not sew fabric or the sit drag directly to the climbing harness to support your butt. I might try this to support mine.
Could Spectra fishing line be used to sew with the Speedy stitcher? It is made of the same material as Amsteel so it is ultimate strength.

I was just at Walmart looking at the fleece material. There is some cool leopard print material that would make good camo. It works for leopards. The wife might like it too. :mask: I think I'm going to buy some type of camo fleece and sew it to my RC harness. What could it hurt? It would eliminate that hanging sit drag. Someone here has made a saddle out of the fleece alone, I seem to remember.

Well almost to the end pics are of the inside before I add the molly loops on the back and fit the lining to the belt and the linesman loops. It's comfy with no pinch. All webbing sewn to the 600D water proof material are double hand stitched and then double machine stitched as well. Then figure in the lining being stitched to all that. The added webbing is high weight rated for the lines.man loops I decided to make. They are one piece sewn one side to the other. The added leg strap loops are one piece sewn side to side. The military belt with 24kn buckle is one belt sewn side to side. The leg strap buckles are military grade no slip G style buckles
Not as pretty as some of yours but it functions well. Not as light but way lighter than a hang on. Very warm which for me is great. I live in a cold region, have old hips and due to a past frost bite incident avoids " issues"
Pics show the inside and one I draped the liner over to show full color.IMG_20190709_152249_hdr.jpgIMG_20190709_152316_hdr.jpg

I was at Walmart yesterday. $2 fabric for more seat panels than I will ever use. I sewed a double layer of stretchy polyester fabric to my rock climbing harness with my clone of the Speedy Sticher. If I knew how pretty it was going to look I would have spent an additional $40 and got the gray RCH. About the fabric, I figured trees are gray so my butt should be gray to match.:grinning: I just went to the park and sat at ground level and it does provide some support and NONE of the sit drag butt squeeze. I thought my RCH was good enough without any extra support before so this should be enough. Did I mention NO BUTT SQUEEZE? Twisting around, I am not sure the bridge has much advantage over the single tether of the RCH. I can twist more than 180 degrees as long as I have a footrest.

Just the inside cover needed. I'm doing that to avoid friction wear on all stitching from wearing it for hours. Also the material is water proof. Here is a pic of back with molly strip and 1 of a few pouches(rope bag). Not as light as most but the tactical belts 24 kn buckle is a tad heavy. Pouches are made from same water proof material. Not a Southern type harness it's warm but here we've had snow on Oct 1 ,our opener. It's cool here in the hills .
I added the tactical belt, lineman loops, leg straps and loops . Everything has 2 lines of hand stitching and 2 lines of machine stitching.

It's looking really nice. How does it feel when you are sitting in it? Is the support at the right spot?
I need to do something with my sit drag to get a climbing strength buckle and belt attached. Then I can wear just the sit drag and belt combo and eliminate my RCH.

THANK YOU
To all the guys posting videos, links, ideas, and experiences. Hubby who's a tad nervous about this whole thing, his stands are no more than 10 ft. Tall, looked it over and was impressed. Though said. " for the time you put into this , I'd have given you the money for a commercial one. " LOL
If I really like this during this season..He may regret that statement!

Thought I posted that last one hours ago.

bj139 Unlike when it was just the sit drag, it is very comfy, no pinch, and good lower back support. Very glad I added the leg straps. I have been using it low to ground with out RCH but I'm not sure I would at heights. I'm not a small person....I'm still trying to feel completely secure with my roping which is climbing rated 11m.
I'm glad The leg loops are a continuous strap sewn one side to the other it added extra support as did the belt and the lineman loop all one piece sewn side to side. The material being a 600 D is stiff so supportive. As I said not a warm weather rig and not the lightest but not at all " heavy " either. Being older it will be a great lower back/ kidney warmer. Cutting down on my pants layering. I like that it's water proof, more than once I've had to sit quick on the way in or out not to get busted. Besides if the winds kick up I can hit an open ground blind on a snowy day and keep a dry butt..lol I Tend to think five plans ahead in doing things

Good idea on the waterproof material for cold weather. That should make it warmer.
With the leg loops it should be secure enough to prevent falling out of it at height. Some people cut the leg loops off their commercial saddles and feel that is secure enough. It wouldn't feel secure enough for me.
