Wild Edge Climb 7 ft. Per Step

I was a bit uncomfortable with the "roll" & "pitch" of the step when I hooked my knaider into the loop. For the second iteration, I incorporated a loop on each side above the step. No more roll, and the step stays horizontal while I put my weight into the knaider. I've added the ability to adjust length at the top in case the tree dictates inconsistent step placement, or layers limit my flexibility.

I would love to see pics of this newest iteration. Also, based on what I was told by the inventor of the bwaider, the knaider loop placement has a lot to do with the stability of the step as you get ready to step onto it. By placement of the loops, I mean horizontally on the foot bar. It can be placed in such a way that the balance of the step is compromised and more difficult to use. send pics of your new version @NYSFreezerMeat I'm eager to see what you came up with.

Ditto for me, :)

I'll remove the black buckle and replace with some box stitching. It was just temporary while I was testing it out. The knot on the top of the step prevents my weight from kicking it out of the horizontal orientation.

Nice idea! You find this version pretty stable then? I love seeing the ideas spawn from this system. What is on the opposite side? Another loop just like it for using it 360?

I’ve kept tabs here and there on this thread. Great progress guys.

I just had an idea hit me reading the last few posts. Hope to try it out this weekend and share my success or my epic fail! Haha

Yes, loop on both sides based upon the feedback here on this thread. This addressed my concerns with the step wanting to rollaway from my foot on the descent.

Looking forward to it.

So my initial idea was a complete bust.

Then I was thinking of other ways to set a step above the head and get up without a multi step aider(not a fan).

I use a knaider and swaider and love them so I just figured out a way to utilize them and 1 more extra long swaider to get up to 7ft.

It needs a lot of refinement and some sewing to make this thing more stable but here was my process:

I put my left foot in the regular swaider.

Right foot has the knaider and (my quickly done) extra long swaider. I would end up combining the knaider and extra long swaider into 1 piece.

Install step 7’ high

Hook lineman’s belt

Attach XL swaider and step up (eyes now at step level)

Attach swaider (left foot) and step up

Unhook XL swaider and hook knaider in.

Unhook swaider and step onto step.

Unhook knaider and step up.

Rewind process down.

That sounds interesting. I'm having a little difficulty visualizing your right side set up with xtra long swaider and knaider. You'd have both stirrups of swaider and knaider on your right foot, correct? Any chance of getting some pics/video of the process?

I think I can picture what you're saying. It sounds a lot like something

If I am understanding this correctly, it sounds similar to an idea that i think @Peterk1234 had at one point. I love when people try new ideas, especially with the Wild Edge steps. What made you move away from the bwaider concept? or are you just exploring for more options? anyhow, here is a link to something that sounds similar to what you are describing. oh, by the way, your explanation was well done. I could visualize it. good job.

Of course Peterk1234 has already done it. And I thought I was being all innovative. I don’t know why I hadn’t seen that one of his.

That is exactly what I tried today. Oh well!

I think with properly built xl swaider/knaider will work pretty well. Was a little sloppy with overlapping parts but one continuous piece should work pretty well.

So far I haven’t tried the bwaider yet. Just been keeping an eye on the developments and how it progresses. I plan to putting one together this summer to try it out.

I wasn't trying to poo on your parade!! It just reminded me of something I had seen before from your description. I think we should always share ideas on this forum, so we can innovate together. revisiting a variation of something already done is a very worthwhile endeavor. keep us posted!

Haha no not at all. He has some pretty innovative stuff with WE steps. That’s why I was shocked I missed that video cause I try to see what he comes up with next. I will always use steps as my primary climbing method and enjoy feeding off of others for new ideas.

Thanks for sharing the video.

Well i made one tonight and works great 7ft per step. Don’t know how much I’ll use it after trying one sticking with my predator but it’s another tool to add to the tool box! Going to trim tail end down after tweaking it some more.

Thanks for posting this video. Now, I get it, lol.

I've been working through several climbing systems this summer, and I have come back around to arrive at the bwaider again. My current version is made of amsteel and wood. I've tried some other materials to replace the wood, but there always seems to be a drawback. has anyone been playing with ideas or new builds off this idea?? I'd love to see some pics and descriptions or even some ideas discussed.

Anyone else try these during hunting season? I already have a knaider/swaider,, but the OP video is very appealing

I believe i'll be settled in on this method for this coming season. The OP video is impressive, and inspired me to pursue this method. I have scaled back the demand on my body and made my bwaider a little shorter of a step, and I don't try to stretch too far, and i'm easily getting 6 to 6'6 each step with minimal demand on my old and unflexible body.
