Wild Edge steppladder system ???

After watching the video of the Cain method again I tried it tonight. Got to say its pretty dang sweet! Can’t get as high up as I do with the red method but that could be cause of my spacing. Ill have to practice it a bit more but as of now I’m gonna add it to the arsenal. I had to get my rigors belt real tight other wise I was further from the tree than I would like. But ill practice it more and get better at it. Both methods are awesome!

I'm 6'2. With 6 stepps I can get to around 15' with no aider at all. That's the highest I can climb in my test tree in the back yard lol.

I'm going to rig up a DIY WE aider either from webbing or rope.

Has anyone tried a hybrid WE / Reds aider? I was thinking that might be a really nice compromise. I tinkered with reds aider but don't really care to have to constantly put the rope back around the tree, especially when i'm already fumbling with a linemans belt. Adjustability of reds aider with ease of the WE aider...

You can try doing reds method and attach to the step instead of the tree. I’m conflicted on the but I may try it. That way you get the best of both worlds.

Yes. Most guys are taking @swampspyder lead and attaching the aider directly to their foot as well. So rather than load your foot with the ropeman, you lift your foot before clipping into the step. It works great.

That being said, @swampspyder is not using aiders or a linemans belt. He is 100% Cain Method.

I am not the person to chime in on this one. But I bought a Metious 4 step aider to try out. Used my tether and ropeman1 on the aider. I hung the tether as high as I could reach then hung step head high. Slid tether around and over front of step. Climbed up on top of step then advanced the tether and hang another step. 20’ or better with 4 steps. Have not perfected it because I like climbing with the XOP better.
But once I connected the tether I never had to disconnect just advance up the tree.
I saw red use his at Saddlepalooza and thought he did it the same way but there was so much going on that day I don’t remember.
Hope this helps.
I ment to attach this to d_rek: but didn’t.

I would look at the "knaider in action" thread. I am 6 foot and was looking for a compact system to use as I age. This system uses all leg strength. It takes some practice but I can easily space the steps at chin-mouth height (about 5'2") an get 20+ get in 4 steps. I should be able to use the same spacing in winter with heavy clothing on as well.

Yea you can hook to the stepp directly with my method too. I wasn't comfortable doing that at first, I would be now. Any time I had a step come loose there was never a chance of it coming off the tree.
