Wood or Metal Riser?

Advantages: very strong, weather resistance, tapping for accessories.
disadvantages (generally speaking, I’m sure there are exceptions): ugly imo, louder, increased vibration, cold in the cold (cold hands makes shots very difficult), and more. I’ve shot several and am not a fan. Also not a fan of ilf. Different strokes for different folks.

So it's a personal choice only.

I've had 3 ILF bows and sold all but the one I currently own. The wood one I liked the least. Wood is warm, metal more consistent. I do like a warm grip....that is easily overcome. I have a Hoyt riser I've kept as well. Less parts than ILF.

All bows can be accurate. For me, after watching others, going to a competition style grip with a metal riser improved my already fairly consistent shooting.

Never was a metal fan before Black Sabbath, whoops sorry, wrong converse. Before I shot a DAS bow with his connections. Wow! All it took. I do love my woodies though.
@Swampwalker
I shot a DAS bow with Uukha limbs, this summer and nearly sold a good rifle to have it. :rolleyes: The price tag was "over the rainbow" for me....at the time. I recently acquired an unexpected amount of money and will be reconsidering this purchase, soon. :) 3 Rivers Archery seems to have the best selection and prices.

I was absolutely stunned by the accuracy and consistency of the DAS riser with the Uukha Altai limbs. :cool: I've shot and owned my share of custom t/d recurves and this one beat all I've ever seen or heard of, when it comes to the overall shooting experience.

My ILF riser is so much heavier and I noticed my variance is less with it. I don't have a hunting setup for it yet and am considering for next year. I think this would allow me a little more weight on the draw and keeping my accuracy. This is the advantage I feel in the metal riser. The mass of the riser moves less when I don't hold statue still through the shot.
