You dont get credit out west.

You also have about 1000% more public land than most all the other states on the east coast…. You also have about 1/100 of the hunters per sq mile as most states on the east coast. Public land sounds like a dream out there.
Yeah, but don't they have to play the lottery to get a tag?

I'm guaranteed 5 just by walking into Walmart and can buy unlimited doe tags on top of that. No lottery. Maybe I'm in a public land honey hole. Tens of thousands of acres of national forest within 20 minutes of my house and very little people on it.

I'd always said I wanted to move out west until I heard how the hunting regulations are

1 deer 1 elk 2 cougers 2 bears. 2 turkeys, trout.salmon ,stealhead, sturgeon...But antilope mule deer and mountain goats are all draw tags.my cuzzin lives in oaklahoma ...he gets à tone of whitetail tags and fills them all in his yard.and dont get me wrong ..im jelllll. Iiiiiis.but theres no adventure in that.just filling a tag out here is considered an extra holiday....dont even think you can get fired for missing work.

Weighing in from central PA: I do love the Pacific Northwest…probably one of the prettiest regions of the country. That said, I don’t know if I could happily live there given its current socio-economic and political environments. Admittedly, I’ve only visited urban / suburban regions out there and the rural regions would likely be more in line with my ideals. Not really sure there’s a point to be made here, but just my thoughts.

Oregon is a lot like CA. People would be surprised how conservative a lot of CA actually is. It's that the politics and media are dominated by the large population centers along the coast so that's what people outside the state are aware of.

“You don't get credit out west”
Who are you looking to for “credit”? A teacher? Your mom? The hunting Gods? The hunting credit board? Your local credit union? Who gives out this credit, and how is it determined? I have no credit, apparently!
