Zip tie stopper on shock cord

They make great boot laces. Slip-on on the left, or fully laced on the right.

Secure a tarp on a wood shed. Bungee absorbs shock during breezy days but it's still easily undone.

Every rope or strap should have one on the ends. Makes wrap-up more efficient.

This one not only manages the strap, it also keeps the extra step from rattling.

“Game changers” are overrated. This is a life changer

I love shock cord for a lot of applications too, but I'm a little confused what the zip tie does. Does it make the length of shock cord adjustable or just replace a knot? I'll have to play with this a bit I guess. Could be valuable!

As I understand it, yes it can be adjustable where needed or just zipped down to the replace the knot in others.

Yes and/or yes.It can replace a knot which would make it neater, more compact. But the biggest advantage that I've found is that it allows adjust adjustability. With some applications, adjustability may not be critical but sometimes it turns this into an entirely different animal for different uses.

What size are you mostly using? 1/8”?

Depends on the application, and I guess also the quality of the bungee cord.
1/8" works good for boot laces. 3/16" is the heaviest stuff that I've used and it's never failed me for what I've used it for, so I can't comment on heavy bungee for doing heavy duty applications. And I've only used high quality 100% stretch bungee so I'm not sure how well cheap stuff works. The good stuff is not expensive per foot. If I'm gonna buy it, I'll get 50 feet at a minimum. It's good to have it on hand.

Tie stopper knots on the free ends. It will keep you from losing the zip ties and also serves as a handle when you need to cinch stuff down.
I just put a zip tie on the ends and I cinch it as tight as it can go. It won't slip off, especially if you've singe-melted the end to prevent freying.

I like it.
And would it be helpful to run a secondary bungee, thru your splice, and take the 2nd one around the pack frame? That would make it part of the pack and impossible to drop/lose. Just a thought.

I’ll likely zip tie to stick. Won’t hurt anything and might prove useful jn the tree. Reason to attach to stick and not hybrid is that allows me to remove it while climbing. If the hard connection is to the hybrid, and the loose connection is the stick, I can’t reach the loose connection behind my back
