Zip tie stopper on shock cord

I’ll likely zip tie to stick. Won’t hurt anything and might prove useful jn the tree. Reason to attach to stick and not hybrid is that allows me to remove it while climbing. If the hard connection is to the hybrid, and the loose connection is the stick, I can’t reach the loose connection behind my back
Most of my bungee rigs are "permanently" attached to the gear is one way or another. Attaching to the sticks accomplishes the same thing in that the cord can't be lost.
I couldn't see that in your pics.

I’m trying these on my bungee systems. If it works out @Allegheny Tom are you cool with calling it the A Tom adjustable bungee? I’m not about using someone else idea(s) without giving credit or getting their approval. View attachment 77866My only contribution was to round the cut ends with a solder iron.
Whatever. I don't need credit. It was strictly dumb luck that I stumbled upon how well this works. It was actually the Recon belt that led me down this path. I wasn't a fan of the stock belt and I started messing around with shock cord instead. I just happened to use a defective zip tie that would only tighten partially and I realized it allowed the cord to be adjustable...just dumb luck.
Call them what you like. I think "Bungee zips" rolls off the tongue a little better.

One of best purchases I’ve made is hot knife for cord. Works great for this too.

A few other uses that I don't have pics for...
I have them on the handles of all my 2 piece spinning rods for when their broke-down for transport or storage. Put the tip thru the bottom guide and the other end gets secured with the bungee down at the handle.

I always have some rigged-up in the canoe especially for river trips when hauling lots of gear. Extra paddles, dry bags, tackle boxes, etc should all be secured to the boat in the event of a flip.

I started putting them on the tie-out loops on my tents. Sometimes it's rough finding a place to get a stake into the ground between rocks or roots. A bungee gives a lot of leeway. It also gives a little more adjustability for the fly. Zip in down closer to the tent for some conditions or guy it out for more ventilation. The shock cord gives a little cushioning during windy weather.

I'm a little confused what the zip tie does. Does it make the length of shock cord adjustable or just replace a knot?

Bungee doesn't really hold very many knots all that well. Hog rings and zip ties are generally more effective than tying them together. Depending on your application you can crank them to a fixed position, or just snug them down so they can still be adjusted with whatever degree of effort you want.

Another thing I've used with shock cord is a wine bottle cork. Found that they are great for applications where you might have cold hands or wear gloves. Gives a larger area to manipulate as far as the cinch point.

These are really useful too. Easy to make your own.

I attach my layers to my vest with paracord and sliding stopper knots....if I would have had shock cord laying around it probably more better.....everybody got paracord laying around

@Allegheny Tom where do you get your bungee cord from? You differentiated between high and low quality. How do you know which is which?

@kyler1945 Where did you get your hot knife?

I get it from Sgt Knots. They have a website but it's also sold on Amazon so you might be able to get free shipping thru Prime.
As for quality, I can only say that Sgt Knots says their's is both 'military grade' (whatever that means) and 'marine grade' so take those claims for what they are worth.
But Sgt Knots, and some other suppliers also rates their's as 100% stretch meaning a 1 foot piece will stretch to 2 feet. I've seen some junk bungee that is not 100% stretch and that cheap stuff seems to lose elasticity over time.
Ive never noticed ANY loss of elasticity with Sgt Knots bungee. I love the stuff.

Anyone else use a Blake’s instead of a zip tie? I guess it uses up more cord but works great for me. Same on paracord.
