For those who have been around here a while, dump something in this thread "from the archives" that makes you smile or laugh. DIY stuff from the "good old days" or ideas/info that helped you starting out. Saddle nostalgia...

Example, I'll go first with these classics: (Not my photos)

Great thread!

Definitely made me smile to see my feet, and my Plywood Primal Platform. I was so proud of that thing. Still have it in my garage. I remember exactly where that hunt was. No deer killed or sighted. Haven't been back to that spot since. Boots have since worn out. Still have the pants and the knee pads. Replaced the WEs but don't use.

Also reminds me of how hard I worked to get to 100 posts to qualify for my first contest. My Team (#1) won that year when @swampsnyper dropped a big rack at the buzzer. I shot 2 does and, again, was so proud to be a part of that.

Great memories.

I'll throw myself under the bus with this one from 2017. . . . :sob:

I also still have this concept platform floating around but its been put to better use. It currently supports the foot pedal of my thread injector while strapped to the table leg with a rachet strap (the cam cleat is on now my DIY Helium one stick). I'd be willing to wager there's still DNA evidence of the laceration this thing gave me during a DIY one stick failure early in my saddle hunting career. :sob:

If we're posting @SloMo links I'd be remiss not to include this one. I'm still using a GM Climb aider made based on this thread. The concept works wonderfully to keep the aider open.

Here’s a couple pics of @huck72412
One where he’s cheating on his girlfriend.

The other when he realized the value of his trophyline collection had plummeted after we finally got someone to build a streamlined saddle that worked.View attachment 96142View attachment 96143

Wasn’t there an old contest thread where @huck72412 admitted to wearing his saddle around in his big brown truck so any deer he ran over counted in the contest?? I can’t seem to find it. :)

Here’s a sustainment pouch. There weren’t any saddles, pouches, platforms or anything specialized for saddle hunting for a long time. We waited years for saddles to be made commercially available.4DE52819-8A07-42D3-8322-CFF5E3B88FB7.jpeg
