    Spur Strap Suggestions

The straps that I'm referring to are called lashing straps I guess. I see some online that are made out of webbing, and claim 600 lb limit, with a break strength of 1100 lbs. Anyone have any thoughts on whether using these would be a good solution?

    Spur Strap Suggestions

Thanks for the input guys. I have a strap that came with a climbing stand to secure the climber to the tree once at height. It's a strap that has a toothed clasp that you pull the strap through, but can't pull through in the opposite direction unless you squeeze it and open the teeth...

    Spur Strap Suggestions

Hey guys, I recently got my first set of spurs. I got a set of Buckingham spurs, with Weaver Super Climber pads. It was immediately apparent that the straps, specifically the noisy metal fasteners, will need to be replaced. Anyone have any suggestions as to what you're using for straps...

    Rappelling

Hey Guys...... What's the easiest way to rappel down out of the tree. Most of my hunting is done in the evening,, and climbing down in the dark has always made me a little nervous; especially once it gets cold. What equipment do I need, what's the technique, and is there a way to retrieve...

    Lifeline

I lost my tether a while back and the only solution I could come up with in a hurry was the HSS Lifeline. Rather than cut the rope, I left it intact and let the tag end dangle down. After two years of saddle hunting, I've never got entirely comfortable with a linesmans belt, especially when...

    Rope Identification

Thought about one of these, but they sure don't seem like they're as stout as what I'm accustomed to. What is the rating on this, compared to say, the predator rope that came with my Kestrel?

    Rope Identification

Still trying to work through this. The only rope REI sells by the foot is this...

    Rope Identification

Thanks guys. I'll hit REI and get something tomorrow before my weekend trip. Anyone familiar with what they carry and have a recommendation?

    Rope Identification

So, I got in a bad habit of just tossing my tether to the ground when about to descend. My dump pouch couldn't hold my standard predator rope that came with my Kestrel........so i just toss it. Well......of course I lost it. Came across some rope that seems like it would work for a...

Nite ize cam jam for back band

The one I use is a small plastic one, with small diameter paracord. Nothing heavy duty at all. The muscles in my back constantly spasm, and leaning way back eases them. I was putting a lot of pressure on the band at the time. I don't see it as a safety issue at all.......I wasn't going...

Nite ize cam jam for back band

I use them, however, I only use one, and permanently affix the other side of my paracord to the band. WARNING- I like to lean back and put quite a bit of pressure on my back band. Obviously the Cam Jam isn't heavy duty, and I once put enough pressure on my band that the paracord...

    Quick Question

It's a Kestrel. I spliced a fixed Amsteel bridge that's about 24". Since I can't adjust that, it seems like the only thing that I can adjust is the tail end of the Prussik that I showed the picture of. Its about 11" or so, and I think that cutting that in half would significantly reduce...

    Quick Question

Hey guys...... I've been having trouble getting my tether high enough. I'm setting it as high as I can reasonably reach. I feel like when I'm leaning (my preferred method one season in), that my angle from the tree is too great. This puts too much stress on my quads, and exposes me more...

    Non locking carabiner for Ropeman1?

Looks like the yellow one is paracord for his back band.

    Amsteel question.

RIGHT! You could hook the end of that looped tether with a carabiner to a liemans loop. That would back up everything. I was worried I was missing something. It seemed like the original comment was eluding to the fact that this redundancy backed up his bridge.
