Can you build a 1.3 pound stick

I would think a bag over the fixed step sticks would solve a lot of problems with carrying them through thick brush. Something like the WE Stepps bag, or material like that, that won't snag or be loud. Put a sling on it and go hunt.

@Ontariofarmer has your steps at 86 grams (3 ozs.) How wide are your steps? Are they 3/8" thick?
I tried to make some similar to yours out of my garage using 6061-t6 1-1/2" x 3/8" x 9 1/2" long. Mine didn't line up as good as they should have and weighed 6 ozs. I may want to buy a set of yours if and when they become available.
Thanks.
Those steps were made by @ImThere and they are rock solid.

Finished one stick if my modded lw sticks I'm doing.... didn't have a digital scale but the scale I had showed just under 2lbs they will not be near the lightest of the ones on this thread but I'm really liking how packable the are now.... I had to use two bolts up top because my steps are not slotted on the back I just cut them out on a band saw.... I may drill some holes through the tubing to shave a little weight and then they will be getting wrapped in stealth strips..... the excess left at the top is for a removable aider to drape over.

Someone should put together a synopsis of this post, including a materials list, total cost and drawings. Lol. Seriously though.

Looks great! Did you use the existing holes and 1/4-20 grade 8 bolts?
The reason I ask is I modified one of my Lone Wolf sticks as well. It's 24" long and I put a new double step on top using the existing holes, there are holes in the stick from the removed middle step and I drilled new holes for the bottom. The problem I'm having is a slight step tilt when I put weight on them. The bolts seem to fit ok and the steps square up and tighten just fine, but move slightly when weight is applied. I was thinking about going to the next size up on the bolts to get a new fit for hardware. ??? Any ideas out there?

If I go to a 5/16"-18 grade 8 bolt I'll have to figure a way to make the standoff bracket fit the new larger bolt.

I used existing holes but opposite how you did it I left the bottom step where it was put the versa button in the bottom hole of the middle step then put the top hole of the top step where the versa button was then drilled a hole through step and tube at the same time for the bottom.... mine is pretty rock solid but the first stick mod attempt I did a while back shifted side to side bad I think it's just a matter of getting your holes lined up and tight.... I wish I had tools to machine a step or I would copy cat the other steps in the thread.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'll take a look at your approach and see if I can get a better fit.

Has anyone drilled holes in Lone Wolf climbing sticks to reduce weight?

I drilled them in one inch aluminium tube.

It would be easier to replace the lone wolf tube with 1/16 6061 aluminium. You will lose 1/3 of a pound

Not if he’s keeping folding bottom steps

My plan is to cut a Lone Wolf tube to 24" and use two double steps. I would drill some "air holes" in the tube if it doesn't compromise the structural integrity. If I can't verify the obvious safety concerns, then I won't do it. Thanks for the advice guys.

1/2” hole on 1” centers you won’t even notice them minus the weight difference

So are you saying that the tubes will be strong enough with 1/2" holes on 1" centers, but there's not much weight savings?
