Electric bikes

Any of you guys have one? Or have some opinions? I am considering getting one to access a huge public property by my house that is closed to motor vehicles.

I've been leaning towards the rambo 750. Sportsman guide has a pretty good price on a combo deal.

I've rode one and it was my friend's quietkat they are awesome. A 750 in Most states it is still considered a pedal bike. Before you buy look at the Radrover they cost $1499 and I researched them and there was nothing but good things about them. Check them out online.

I didn't think hub motors could use gears either but this rad rover has a cassette. Downside is $175 shipping (if I heard this guy correctly) so closer to 1700.....and with tax and addons/upgrades...who knows

I honestly think unless you guys are riding these things in sand or snow a lot, youd get more out of them if you just used a regular mountain bike versus a fatbike. Big tires don't mean 4x4 ya rednecks

The Radrover bike looks a little cheap imo after watching that video. Like Walmart bike quality components

I believe the cassette is for the benefit of pedaling.

ah yeah...duh
unless the point is to power my legs in a circle motion...hmm wouldn't even do that with freewheel though....pure pedal power, your right

Yeah they look good. They've been brought up before as a good option. Great reviews!

The quietkat looks like it was designed from the ground up to be an electric bike. The frame looks sturdier and the battery is built into the frame. All the other brands appear use traditional frames and add electronics. I like the quietkat, but couldn't justify the price.

Yeah. Agreed.

They all look really similar to me. For the amount I would use it, I can't really justify going high end. If it was a daily driver in a city, I'd be happy to drop 5 Gs.

It is built really well and there is free shipping. I did alot of research on e bikes and the best is Quitekat and the most bag for your buck is Radrover .

got my lunacycle bbs02 kit the other day and figured Id dive in this morning

Got the motor on. Took less than an hour, going back and forth between youtube how-tos. Piece of cake when ya have the correct tools. (bikes require some strange ones every now and then). If you need any parts or tools for a bike, Nashbar.com has some decent looking odds and ends at good prices and free shipping on everything.

Think I'm going to make a custom battery plate to get it situated on the vertical tube of my bike, so progress is kind of done for the day.

Wiring is all plug and play by the way. Luna cycle kit looks easy to install, IF you have the proper bottom bracket size on your bike and tools.

Ill post pics of battery once I get it finished up later in the week probably.

They recommend you charge these lithium batteries in your oven or a grill btw.....

The woods I hunt here are to wet for these I think. I've gone through plenty of water almost to the seat on my Grizzly and have put the headlights on the truck under more than a few times.. I also have a Kawasaki KLR that I can use on all the main dirt roads where I cant use the ATV. Its great for Scouting at 58 MPG. The saddle makes it easy to hunt of the bike, conventional stand not so much.

Finally got around to drilling this little aluminum plate mount for the battery in order to mount it how I wanted using the bottle cage holes. Turned out pretty nice looking. I'm going to try and vinyl wrap the plate dark blue or black.

Now just running wires and cosmetics.....but for another day.

Also think I may need a smaller crank tooth ring. 46t is the smallest you could get included with this kit, but Ive read about guys preferring 34-36t rings. Smaller = more torque, larger = more speed. Smaller also allows these motors to spin faster which is good for them, especially on hills.
Ill try it like this first , but my main goal is hooking my deer cart to the back of it and pull a deer up some bigger hills

Any chance you could bring this to SaddlePalooza?

Has anyone gone any further with these ebikes? I’m really interested in converting a mountain bike I keep up at my lease. I’d really like to know as much about this as I can.

Any updates on your build?

Not really. I’ve put it all together but need to clean the wires up a bit. Waiting on some shrink tubing to come in the mail.

Also realized my old chain is too short for the 46t crank ring, so that’s another thing I’ve got to figure out
