G2Outdoors - Southern Illinois - live from the tree

Motel 8 sure must have upgraded over the years. And look at all those designer icechest!!!
You sure this isn’t a high fence, air conditioned box blind hunt, take out the saddle for the hero pic kinda hunt? Lmao!
Lol. None of the coolers are mine. I can't afford them. My $20 Coleman got stuck holding the lunch meat, bread, and drinks.

After day 4 or 5 I may be wishing for a high fence, heated box blind hunt.

Spent all day scouting. Found tons of rubs and scrapes between 4 or 5 properties. Convered many miles.

Weather is bad for another day so we'll probably spend most of tomorrow scouting then hunt the evening.

On Tuesday a cold front comes through. It should get things popping!

Made it to southern Illinois.

Bought our licenses right across the border and drove straight to the first piece of ground I scouted online. Jumped a small buck and several does from exactly where I thought they'd be. Also found several active scrapes and rubs. Only had about 2.5 hrs to scout before we lost light. We did bump into 2 people hunting together.

We decided to skip the morning hunt and get some more boots on the ground Intel at a few other spots. Our first hunt will more than likely be tomorrow afternoon.

Checked into the motel 8. They left a light on for us.

Yes that is a climber. My brother is new to saddle hunting so he brought a backup plan just in case. I'm confident it won't leave the hotel room.

Did your brother buy flinging's API climber he had on his guidos web YouTube video?

Go get em for team 1. I am not doing good for team 1 at the moment.

I love these kind of trips and that you improvised and are getting after it in Illinois.
I just finished up the first leg of my rutcation on public land in Indiana.
This was my 7th year, it's always a huge challenge and I love it.
Most of my hunting spots were a mile or more from the closest road. I'll be curious about your experience in Illinois. I'm looking for a change of pace next year.
Be safe, and best of luck to you!

Scouted again this morning. Found some great spots.

Back at the hotel to get cleaned up and eat some sammiches. About to head out for our first hunt of the trip. Hopefully the scouting pays off.

Perhaps Red should change this thread and rename it, " Live from some random motel 6 room in southern Illinois ". Go hunting already!
We've only been in the hotel to sleep. Been walking the woods burning boot leather.

You guys are better hunters than me. I need all the scouting intel I can get.
