G2Outdoors - Southern Illinois - live from the tree

Hunt 2. Jumped a lot of deer along the river in the dark. Nothing from the saddle so far.

I thought I missed.

After getting home and reviewing the footage, it looks like I hit him back.

I couldn't find my arrow, but it was tough to locate the actual shot location due to how thick it was.

Going back in the morning. I don't believe it was a fatal shot, but we'll see.

He would be my second biggest buck ever. He's a 130"-140" 8 point.

I’m just glad you got a shot on something besides a pig. Hope you find him.

At least you let him lay over night undisturbed. Hopefully you got some vitals and he's laying not too far from where you shot him!

Jumped a big buck with a doe on my walk in this morning. He was about 500 yards from where I shot last night. It could have been the same buck.

Had a small buck come under me right at daylight. They're moving.

Plus I finally get to see the sun. It's been solid grey skies since we got here.

Also after looking at the footage, he wasn't standing still when I shot. It was just dark enough that I couldn't see him moving. That's why I hit him back.

I wouldn’t give up on him yet. I haven’t seen the footage but there isn’t much area between the last rib and and the femur that isn’t fatal. How much coyote sign is in the area?

I agree, there is a lot of stomach/intestines back there that will kill him. It's not what we aim for, but if that is where you got him and with him sitting undisturbed overnight there is a good chance he is dead!

No blood. No arrow. Footage doesn't show much. It's dark, zoomed out, and grainy. My best guess is high and just in front of his hips...below his tenderloins. He was quartered away slightly.
