I am getting ready to pull the trigger. I need a little help with which to buy. Yeah I know some of you will say buy both. Not in the cards with a daughter getting ready to go off to college next year. I have a liberal urban archery season where I hunt so I can use it still this year.

I have a bad back, from what I have read the GW is more comfortable. Does it give you more support or will the Evolution give the same support with the back support?

The GW does not look like it is as maneuverable as the Evolution; are my thoughts correct on this?

Any thoughts or in sight would be appreciated.

Joe

I cannot answer your question about the Guido's web. I can tell you I bought the GW and opened the box and looked at that contraption and sold it immediately. To me there was too much going on with the GW. I have also read that a lot of guys say it is very cumbersome and hard to get in the tree with it but once you are there it is the most comfortable thing they have sat in. The new evolution by new tribe has adjustments for your butt and back. Hopefully someone will be along to give you the exact info you want. My suggestion would be to buy the new tribe. I did. Mine is going to be here today. this will be my second harness or saddle buy new tribe. They are top notch for quality

I appreciate the input. Sometimes minimal is best

I still have a guido's web - I used it two or three times and it now is in a plastic tub along with a lot of other things purchased and not used along the way. I might add that I use a saddle for mobility and beign able to sneak into an area. I also think saddles are far easier to shoot from in orthodox positions.

Big Joe,

I hope this helps with the GW side of your question. I have not used an aero evolution, so I cannot speak to it.

I highly recommend the GW...and not just for comfort... To me, it seems like the ideal saddle in multiple areas.

Here is what I posted formerly about the GW.... viewtopic.php?f=16&t=375

If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to try and answer.

Are you hunting preset trees?

If so, with a bad back, I would recommend the Guido's Web. I never had any problems maneuvering for a shot. I just didn't like climbing the tree with it.

If you are taking everything in/out with you, then the Evolution will be better. Then rig a back pad/strap (or buy the one New Tribe sells)

Buy both now, and use them both as much as u can between now and next fall. If you give them both a fair shot, u will know by next hunting season which ones right for u. Then u can sell the other one right before next season, and you shouldn't take more than a 100 dollar hit on the one u sell. 100 dollars worth of education, to know you're in the right saddle for you, is money well spent, because they r both very well made products by all accounts, and whichever way u wind up going it will probably b the last saddle u will ever need. Good luck.

Gentlemen,

I appreciate the feed back.

I will not be hunting preset areas. Most of my hunting is done at a hunt club, that have ladder stands. I watched several times this year deer avoiding them as I was a hundred yards or so away. I have always used Lok On's or a climber for most of my hunting, and have been quite succesful. I am quite excited about getting involved in this style of hunting, as it takes you to the next level.

Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions.

Joe

I also recommend the evolution due to its size. I have 2 herniated discs and a back that bothers me when sitting in any chair for more than 15 minutes. I sat in my evolution for probably 70 days this season, with about 8 or 9 all day sits, with ZERO back discomfort. I honestly don't know how I would hunt out of a tree stand anymore if I didn't have a saddle.

For me Guidos all the way! I started with a Treesuit, then Treesaddle then Evo and finally Guidos. I am too old to not hunt in comfort-I am not trekking miles into my hunting spot so bulk is not a problem.

Well now you're confused more than ever. Lots of votes for each. Maybe someone close to you has one of each that you could try out. Good luck with your decision.

bigjoe,
I don't know what size you are but if you feel like making a run up north to Culpeper county you are more than welcome to come up and try my Evolution its a size 1. Just let me know!

Thanks,
Boswell

Decisions, decisions, decisions. LOL

I APPRECIATE ALL THE FEEDBACK. BOSELL, I appreciate your kindness . I will DEFINETELY need the larger size.

I gave my thoughts on GW in the thread that preacherman posted. I have not tried the evolution yet so I can not make comparisons. I can say that the GW is as comfortable as I could ever imagine a stand/sling being. The two back adjustment straps and rigid bottom seat are great for getting the back support you need and the whale tail keeps your knees from having to contact the tree.

Hi Joe,

I recently purchased a NT AH and I have to say that after trying Redsquirrels back in October I couldn't wait to get one. The quality and construction are second to none and the versatility is off the charts and you can use it almost anywhere. It's light and can be worn in so those long hikes back to the deep woods aren't such a chore anymore so you probably go further and hunt off the beaten path. I have to say that for me it's the versatility of the Aero Hunter and light weight that intrigued me the most but the simplicity of the New Tribes saddle, even though some say the Evolution has too many adjustments, tipped the odds for me.

As for the GW I have never hunted from one only watched videos of people using them and compared to the Aero Hunter it seemed cumbersome and complicated. While many have posted here that once you learn how to use them they are safe, stable, and comfortable. I would try and find someone that can let you try their GW and maybe take Boswell up on his offer to try his AH as well. I think both systems have there place but they are very different systems and how well they will mesh with your hunting style only you will be able to decide, the problem for most of us is that we need several hunts under our belts before we know if it's a good fit or not, and of course by that time it's too late to return it. Nothing can beat first hand experience and actually trying the product out, because opinions are so subjective to personal preferences that it's hard for most people to be objective, especially with a product that doesn't fit their personal wants or needs. Best of luck keep us posted.

I have both. I like the new tribe areo way better than the Guido web in every aspect. The web just has alot going on and it is alot harder to shoot out of ( bowhunting).

Bought the Web last year as my first "saddle" and loved it. Super comfy but like everyone else says, the straps and buckles just get to be a pain! I was able to get a NT Evo as well and once I started using it I hung the Web up and never touched it this season. I have since modified my Evo and for me it's perfect for how I hunt. I sold the Web Sunday and I don't think I will regret it. If you get the Evo get the back pad/strap as well and you will have no problems with your bad back. I have done several all day sits this year with zero back pain or fatigue. My legs start to get a little tired toward the end of the day but it's not bad at all. Hope that helps a little!

All your posts were the reason I bought the Web. I feel betrayed now :D

Its end of season or close to it for most. People will start selling them. Find a deal and try it out over the summer. If you don't like it, come fall you could likely sell it for little or no loss.
