How did you find the site?

Wow Laker

Thanks for the plug!

I'm just another bow hunter trying to help others be more successful and that's one thing everyone on this site seems to have in common. I wish I could spend more time on this site than I do.

My son Chris is a new member on this site but I don't think he's posted anything yet. He brings a ton to the table so I hope he visits here occasionally. Chris is the English editor for the German based quarterly hard covered magazine called Jagdzeit and the English version is called Hunters Path and it can be Googled at: Hunters Path magazine. It's very different than any magazine I've ever seen with very little advertising, all glossy pages, and pictures that would rival anything National Geographic prints.

It's about hunting all over the world for all species of animals and with all types of weapons. Most hunts well exceed my hunting budget because so many stories are from places I can only dream of visiting. I'll stick with vertical bows and whitetails and remain very happy, but living through another hunter via pictures and a story is interesting.

Anyway Laker, thanks again for your support on the site.

Nice, Chris Eberhart is a great help to all of us as is John...Spoke with Chris a few times and this guy can get it done when it comes to killing mature bucks in any situation plus he is a do it yourself kind of hunter which form what I see in this board everyone has this in common.....

Just looked up the magazine. Wow, looks like some great photography for sure. I as well am satisfied chasing the elusive whitetail. I can definitely relate to hunting pressured deer. It is cool though to see other worldwide species and the stories of the hunters that can afford to pursue them. As for me, it is local deer on a budget... But that is the fun of it! I was fortunate enough to kill a P/Y caliber deer this fall, but that is definitely not the norm in my area. Thanks again for taking the time to post some great info. Laker

Congrats!!!

I was reading one of the Eberhart books which lead me to google saddle hunting. Then I saw this site referenced again on the AT aero hunter thread. And lastly, I got the card when my Evolution package arrived. Guess you guys are sitting at the cool kids table.

Welcome!

I read a book. Bowhunting pressured whitetails: Expert techniques for taking big, wary bucks. He talked about tree saddles changing everything for him. I searched online and found this place!

I am currently reading your book! And you just so happen to be here! Amazing! Your book has changed me and the way I think about hunting. I'm new, and reading your book has helped me tremendously! Thank you so much for writing such an amazing book. I just joined today and this was my first post, viewtopic.php?f=10&t=528

Searched saddle hunting forum after reading about saddle hunting in John Eberhart's books and becoming interested in it. Figured there's a forum for almost everything now.

Lol nice!

Found it using a web search. I recently watched some hunting shows where they used tree saddles and figured it would be a great way to hunt public land.

I think I found it on the new tribe web site. However it happened, it sure has changed the way I hunt !!!! Thanks.....

I was referred here by John Eberhart when I emailed him about a question I had regarding saddle hunting and saddles. He suggested I check out the site to get some first hand insight into the New Tribe Aero Hunter Evolution and saddle hunting in general.

I became tired, or Am tired of lugging weight and volumes of gear around to get elevated. I thought there must be a better way. I searched different terms with "forum" and I found a few hits at various sites and thru following some of the "links", I stumbled upon this site.

I am not a saddle hunter yet. I am exploring different paths. It looks as though the Aerohunter is the cats meow, at least for now. However, I am investigating a hybrid; rock climber harness with a "seat" attachment as per the "seat hunter", can't remember the actual name at the moment. Getting old I guess. I got the design in my head, but I can't find life rated hardware.

Anyway, I plan on becoming a saddlehunter but don't know if I will be able to swing it this year; pun definitely intended. The Aerohunter certainly looks like THE saddle for now, but I can't spend the $$$ for an unknown. I know I'll waste some money buy trying something cheaper first, but at least I may determine whether this is my cup of tea..........or not.

Welcome to the site!

I have seen quite a few people go with a similar line of thought, trying a different tree harness or a rock climbing harness and end up buying the aero hunter because it did not work. I would see if you can find someone in your neck of the woods who can give you a demo so you can try it out before dropping the cash. I don't think you will get the correct picture from a makeshift saddle.

Also keep in mind that the price is similar to the high end climbing stands, or that one saddle replaces infinite hang on stands. Good luck!

Drifter, put your location in your profile, might be someone nearby willing to let you try out a saddle!

They seem expensive but comparing to a nice treestand, the difference isnt very big.

thanks redsquirrel

I know what you mean about spending the cash experimenting then spending more to purchase the "right" thing.

I am condemned to that scenario. I usually spend more trying to "do it my way" than just going ahead and buy the dad burned thing.

I am actually leaning towards Guidos Web right now. Everytime I sit on a small platform in a tree somewhere, I think to my self; man I'd much rather be facing the tree than leaning against it. Don't know why I haven't done something about it waaaaaay before now.

Any how, I got this old Big Game harness that looks like I can do some experimenting with. Just sew on a couple of straps with good loops on them and I might be able to duplicate Guidos Web for a lot less. Of course, it won't be as slick as Guidos, but maybe I can learn if I like it as much as I hope I think I will. I really can't afford to drop the ;$335 right now. Maybe in a month or so. I think I can experiment for just a few $$$$$. I already have a Speedy stich and I have sewn quite a few leather items with it. Just need about 20' of good webbing. I scrounged up a few sliders/buckles from a couple of old cheap gimme harness that came with some old stands.

Thanks for you insight.
