Latitude Rebel Platform Initial Thoughts

I’ll try to be the voice of reason here. We are all excited. True. Latitude made cool new platforms. True. We have now seen one video filmed in a kitchen about a platform. In that video the end user states it could be noisy or squeaky. None of us have any factual data points showing that is anywhere close to true or false. Until someone makes a newer video with it in and on a tree with actual boots or shoes on it we need to calm down just a little. I know it’s August and we are running out of time. The deer are in their forums talking about the latitude being slippery also. So let’s just wait and see before we declare this platform a turd versus other platforms that are probably just as “slippery” or “noisy”.

I am disappointed with the size. Ordered it because of the website stated 13.3” but with the way it narrows down in the front makes it more like an OG Predator than the XL. Thanks for sharing. This is a great comparison.

I never felt this was an XL platform, but totally agree that even 2" wider at the front edge would make a big difference here.

I like the concept geometry, but that front edge needs to be sufficient too.

Still, got some things going in the Predator size.
 
I was able to run over to the park real quick and put it on a tree. I took a video I'll post up, but this what I thought:

  • Hanging/Setting - similar to the EDP and predator. Hang it, get the strap tight, seat it, step on, toe-hook. Because it's lighter and more compact than the EDP I anticipate hanging it will be a bit easier
  • Noise - No noticeable noise. Noise was the reason I ended up selling the Ambush. I was never able to get it quiet and keep it that way throughout an entire hunt.
  • Solidness - felt very solid. I would probably rate the EDP as slightly more solid, but I would place the Rebel ahead of the Predator and Ambush. No concern with side pressure or unacceptable flex (I'm 230-240 lbs).
  • Size - plenty of room to get both of my size 11 shoes on the front edge and stand fully. No issue for me
  • Feel - As I said on my first video, there is no texture and this could be something to note in wet conditions. The more immediate issue is the front edge is fairly thin thus it puts more pressure on my feet than front edge of the EDP. I will likely add paracord around the front edge of the Rebel to reduce pressure and add some traction.

I'm excited to use the Rebel this year and I think the low profile and light weight will be a nice upgrade.

Is this big enough to fully stand on and take all weight off your tether and turn for weak side shot? The tethrd predator is the bare minimum size for me to do that.

Is this machined or cast?

Yes, I was able to stand fully without issue.
I believe this is a machined platform.

It's machined. Hence the welded dog ears.

ugh....don't wanna spend money.....but lighter AND stronger (machined) than my go to predator.........
