Cool. I just don't want all the clutter. Getting back to the Aero Hunter with loops and straps everywhere. I might just do away with the RC harness. I don't know yet. Need to sleep on it.

I understand the desire for the harness with the sit drag. But I'd think a belt on it like Flingin has would be just about perfect as far as that gOes.
My new sling started out too bulky, but now it's just about the same thickness as the sit drag except the 1 ft wide pad in back. And it has multiple loops that aren't as functional as I thought they'd be.
It looks like your sit drag with the center strap the way you have it would be awesome with a belt of some sort to keep it up while climbing and help you stay in it during a fall.

I'm not using a harness either. I personally don't see the need for it. However, I completely understand where the pro-RC harness guys are coming from.

I think the FlinginX combined with the waist belt on my SD will work perfectly.

I haven't used my sit drag in a while, but I believe that with a belt to use while climbing kept loosely fastened to prevent the sit drag from falling low enough to trip you while hunting would be plenty safe and very small and unobtrusive. The FlinginX certainly will stop you from falling far while climbing so I think you're probably going plenty far enough to be safe. I feel plenty safe in the Ken sling with the same setup ,although if the tree has no limbs to navigate around I'll sometimes just tie the tether at ground level and climb with it either in addition to or instead of lineman belt for extra safety

I like to sit I my saddle and I slide it low under my but. If I had to loosen the belt to get it off my hips it seems like an unsafe position to me. Seems like leaning out for a shot and your feet or platform slip you will be falling head 1st and having the belt low and loose will aid in turning you upside down making it easy to slip out of the belt. I guess it all depends how you fall. If your weight is upright, I have faith in it. Maybe you will alway be upright and never can get to that angle where you fall head 1st. I'm sure it will be hard to do.

Looking at your pics I don't think you would go upside down at all. I've actually hung upside down in my SD with the belt I added just barely snug  I don't actually "sit" in mine, it's more of a lean where my body is more upright. It's impossible to say what is "safe" because we all use them differently. I feel completely safe in mine with the added hip belt and leg straps.

I would be interested in adding the harness just for the lineman's belt loops. IMO lineman's belt loops are necessary to make a safe and easy switch off from the linemans belt to the tree strap.

Using the sit/drag as a linemans belt is very comfortable. I'd hate to have another set of loops in the way.

Come to think of it, in the past I've used my rock climbing harness with locons and had 1in webbing wrapped around the RC harness only attached with a few stitches just like I have my sit drag attached. So it was no safer than using my sit drag as a linemans belt while stitched to my RC harness. Not that either is the best practice.

I really like what I have as a sit/drag -RC harness combo. I think I'll add more straps between the 2 for more support incase of a fall.

there is definitely a balance between what is needed and what we like. The sit drag, as some are using does have some potential risk no doubt. But I guess I kind of kook at it like any other hunting. I used to backpack solo hunts in the Bob Marshall - friends told me I was crazy to go in solo with all the grizzlies and now I have some great memories there and never had a bad griz encounter. Same with sheep/goat hunting can be said. Heck I worry more about my wading through chest deep creeks with all the moccasins we have here. I have had my gaitors hit twice in last two season. I had one swim right by me chest deep at 0400 with my hands holding my pack and bow as I waded down a creek to my stand. but it is the only way to get to this spot without spooking the deer. Is it worth it - who knows for sure - but I have had some great times in that stand.

Bottom line is keep your head in the game folks. And if we get careless, no matter what gear we use, we can still get hurt pretty quick and bad. But I would really hate to hear of any of you young fathers leaving behind a widow and orphans so if in doubt lean towards more equipment for safety. No deer is worth taking a poor risk - that I am certain of.

I changed up my attachment points to my RC harness. Haven't got a chance to hang yet. Been raining all day and night with a lot more rain to come. I probably should be spending my free time building an arc!

That looks really good. Are the attachment straps between the sit drag and the belt detachable or adjustable enough to allow the seat to swing down a lot , or just a little bit? That's gotta be Comfy and looks pretty safe. I agree about the loops on the side. I just feel safer when I can attach at the sides sometimes with more than just my bridge and lineman belt

The sling is attached to the RC harness by the 1in straps just looped around the belt and secured with the black metal slider. It is completely detachable. Not sewn to the RC harness at all. I cut the straps too short I believe. I haven't tried it yet but think I'll want more adjustability for the sling to hang more. I only stitched them to the saddle with 2 bars of stitching to see how I liked it before adding more support stitching. At this point I think I'll need to order more webbing to make them longer.

You did a really good job with this mod. If I end up using a RC harness in tandem with the SD, I'll follow your design.

Hmmmm....I see, If I fell while using the lineman belt on the sit/drag, I'd be depending on the sit/drag to catch me. Dang, Back to the drawing board.

Wait, what problem are we trying to solve? I was planning to use the sit drag for my linemans belt. The only reason I was planning to add a belt to the sit drag was to keep it 'on me'. Then use the loops with my rope and ropeman when I climb. Turn that into my adjustable bridge at the top and hook up to my tether...

...have I just taken a 30 foot fall???
