New Platform steps maybe ???

They were made from a rectangular tube so you wouldn't be able to cut them like that unfortunately and still have a good step surface. Could maybe weld a plate there though.

I was afraid of that but if you were going to try that design before you go through the hassle of welding a plate you could put a piece of wood Block in there as a filler and run a small bolt through just a hold everything together

I spent 2 hrs in these bullman steps as a platform. I quickly threw 3 on a ratchet strap and attached them at the same height as the top of my stick. They did move but so do the ameristeps when I use them until they get settled. There was a rain factor today. It was pouring so the tree was wet the strap was wet and the plastic was wet. Everything was slick in rubber boots. I do think that these are ok not gonna be as good as ameristeps but these are available to buy.

My recommendation is if you have enough ameristeps then you won’t need these but if you are lacking ameristeps these will work.

Do you think these would be a good option for climbing a tree

Can’t say til I try them, but that is what they were designed for so I expect they’ll work. If I were to use them I’d use them with my aider though. While quiet it would be very slow to put 12 of these on.

I spoke at length with the owner of Silent Approach and Bullman Outdoors yesterday. He's a die hard hunter and very interested in working with the Saddle Community. I can confirm the steps ARE Injection Molded.

We also talked about offering a Saddle Platform option with 4-6 steps on a single strap (Ratchet or OCB TBD depending on sourcing). He was very open to the idea.

We talked about a few other things that I'm not at liberty to discuss right now. :)

Also, the reason we are just finding out about these, is because they just launched about a month ago.

And yes, the Saddle Nation blew up his online orders. Good job lol!

He said "why am I selling so many 6 step options all over the country??"

I gave him a crash course in saddle hunting and he was very interested.

There will be a set of these at SaddlePalooza as well.

I'm home sick and I have a sick 2 year at home as well. So when she took a nap I went outside and got to play with these. For the second attempt, they did not work very well again as a platform. They move around a lot and swim on the strap. I'm using them with the boat buckle that I normally use. Both trees were not perfect trees but they are move of a real life example.

I put 3 on the tree to climb with as they were intended and I thought they worked great. They are nice and light and quiet. I may purchase a full set to have as a climbing option.

I think the difference between them for steps vs platform is the side pressure when used as a platform and where the strap is located and how it attaches to the step.

I'll be interested to see if the other guys who bought them find the same thing as they use them. It is nice to have someone on the market making these and I wish him success. Maybe he will be able to work on a step that works well as a platform also :D

like reworking the design so the strap is above the step? should we get our steps on ebay?

Whats G2's ebay handle....that's insider trading. You go to jail for that :p

I’ll be following this thread. Hopefully either this or the anticipated Cranford step will give us a new option for next year.

I'm needing to put together a second or third platform so I will be watching this closely

John E mentioned this several months ago. Some big surprise from cranford but I haven’t seen anything yet. I think he said it would be after the first of the year.
