New Platform steps maybe ???

John E mentioned this several months ago. Some big surprise from cranford but I haven’t seen anything yet. I think he said it would be after the first of the year.

Sweet thanks Eric!

    Verrrrry interesting!

Harness hunting is going to take off, I can just feel it.

Make no mistake, the treestand companies don't like this site or the thought of losing tons of conventional metal cumbersome stand business to hunters that needs only a single harness to hunt every one of their preset locations.

However for those that convert and learn how to properly use a harness correctly, they will take a big step in becoming more consistently successful, I know I took an immediate huge leap in success when I converted to a sling in 1981. I honestly can't even imagine hunting from what I consider archaic conventional stands.

    New stuff:

New Tribe will be coming out with a new trimmed down harness later this month and after talking to Sophia the owner for half an hour, I think it's going to kick ass.

Dennis the owner of Cranford, is also working on a very special project for harness users that is much needed for hunting public lands, but it won't be available until 2018.

    No problem.

My set of 12 showed up today. Spent some time with them in the tree. Going to do a video on them as a platform and as single steps before I head back to Utah.

Thanks,
Boswell
Can you post a picture of what they look like?

the platform review from @redsquirrel has me a little concerned about their usefulness for anything but a climbing aid. The owner is sending me a set to giveaway at SaddlePalooza. So one of you lucky jokers will be taking home a set. However, they may be a little scuffed up from um...testing :)

I used them as a platform last night for about 2 hours and had no major issues with them. My first impressions is that I think they could be a viable option. I will do some more testing with them and compare to other options.

Thanks,
Boswell

Good to know. I'll be happy to see the video review.

Yea but can you run a single strap through 4-5 of them to make
a platform?

You absolutely can, the debate is compared to the ameristeps, how do they perform. My 2 quick test runs showed me that they can be useful as a platform but you need to get them real tight. They do move but for me so do the ameristeps. My overall opinion is if you have enough ameristeps then you will not need these. But these are available by an American business and they arrived with in 3 days of ordering them. As a climbing system I can see them working nicely.

Yea i use lone wolf sticks just need a platform although most of my setups will be permanent
Im looking for a run and gun platform setup. I might get a set is 6 enough?

6 is overkill In my opinion. But a big tree may need 6. I can’t imagine needing more. You will 100% need to get a ratchet or over center buckle as the included strap will not work for platform.

I agree with the first part, if you have steps you won’t need these. If your new and need steps this will work if you get them extremely tight. I tried them as a climbing system and got 6 up before I had enough. I am not a fan of the single step climbing system and was tired enough after 6 to just quit then.

I completely agree. I'm not a fan of the single step climbing systems either.

I also don't think these would work with a boat buckle. With these steps, I believe a ratchet strap is a necessity for a platform.

I haven't tried it with a boat buckle, only the ratchet, I just figured it would work. 1 thing that is for certain that pull buckle will not work for a platform :)
