Steppladder Platform Board DIY

I have been checking back several times a day for this news! Can you tell me about how heavy it is going to be? Also, I truly believe it needs to be tested in Texas before you go further on the production side. Send me the proto type and I will test it for you! Just trying to look out for you! :)
 
We tried making it as light as possible and spent so much time on the weight issue that we were not able to make it strong enough. We are now messing around with different metal gauges to really shave a few more ounces off but most importantly it will be strong! All you guys who are weight conscious I have another alternative that may take a little longer and more money but it will happen in the future.
 
I'm not 400 lbs but you can send me a prototype and I'll only have to put about 115lbs in a pack to proof it at 400. A brace from the back of the platform to the v on the stepp would add a good bit of strength. It's when you stand on the edge and put side pressure that you really test the platform. A lot of people would be happy with a double the size stepp with a platform on it.

And the only material I will ever trust is Steel. You cannot and will not beat steel. Our platform will be tested to the limits and I will only sell it when we have proven that the platform can hold atleast 400 pounds. We are working as fast as we can without rushing this! This has been a bigger challenge than I ever thought it would be!

Seems like we are on the verge of the perfect solution. I think it's going to happen soon. The XOP seat and post works good, but I think there is an improvement in the weight/ease of set up to be discovered.

This is intriguing for sure. I'm still on the fence personally with steps vs platform. I have the machined platform I made with XOP components, but the logistics of set up, in addition to the ~4lb weight and bulk, was always a big downside vs steps, which marry so nicely with the idea of saddle hunting. Very interested to see what Wildedge comes up with.

I agree.

The platform can't be beat when it comes to mobility and comfort. But you do pay a weight penalty. However, I bet mine is less than 4lbs.
 
Andrew so would this platform only require one stepp? Are you thinking the platform would be carried in with a backpack or are you also looking at a way to have one bag for both the stepps and the platform. I guess you can tell we are excited about this! I think you said you were working on a better shoulder strap too

I like the XOP Climber seat pretty well but don't like the traction belt very well. I think a Summit open shot climber seat would work better with the cable. But it would weigh more. If anyone has one to sell I could be in the market.

Fellas I got my platform to cam over perfectly for my first hunt in the woods.

I think my success is that I drilled the holes in the board pretty large. Allowing me to roll the stepp up to get as much rope as possible to wrap around the crossbar. Then I cinch that rope tighter than Chris Shivers bull rope and complete the knot. All that's left to do is cam over and hunt.

No video yet but still planning to get one out.

Looks good Swampfox... I still have to make another board as my step didn't fit in the 1" holes cut at 6.5" on center like in the diagram which really should be 7" on center if you measure the step... what size holes did you cut?

I just reamed the one inch holes with the drill bit till the step fit. They're not perfectly round due to this but I'll pull a measurement.

I can't give all the secrets away! But yes the platform will require only one stepp and a carry bag is also in the works! Shoulder pads will be up on the website this week!
