Switching to Amsteel

go for it - it really isn't hard at all. End splice is nothing more then passing two ends through the rope and then burying it in itself. A whoopie sling is nothing more then burying the rope for 10 inches or so inside itself and then exiting. I have been doing it for years now on sticks and I learned from watching a youtube video long time ago - there are a ton of even better videos now. If I can do it anyone can - there really is not any trick to it at all.

Yeah, I've made multiple hammocks and whoopie slings for suspension, but that was for 14" off the ground lol.

I have 1/4" coming to build a WS for a platform, I'm contemplating now about building a bridge while I'm at it...

You guys are right though, it's great stuff. I think it's only real weakness is a sharp edge under load, but then again what cordage/strap isn't weak there.

Ok, I'm doing it! You guys are using 1/4" correct?

Way to take the plunge bowbender73! I was just told today that wesspur had a bunch on clearance you may want to check that out. And yes, 1/4.

When you try to cut it, you will realize it would take a heck of a sharp edge to damage it. Im using 1/4" for my bridge and used a whoopie sling. I only buried about 6" on my ends and about the same on my whoopie constrictor and it don't slip a bit.

It's definitely tough to cut on a work bench. But I wonder how it would handle a sharp object under a load? I'm sure the testing has been done, but I haven't seen it. I wonder if it would fail easily? That said, I can't ever remember a time when I had my broadheads, much less a knife, in a position to cut my tether. It just doesn't occur in a normal hunting scenario.

That was my point, crane hoisting straps are crazy strong also, but if you look at them wrong under a load..."they gone"....ask me how I know

Anyway, I'm so worried about it I'm currently doing my first test run with a 1/4" WS bridge , holding up fine to my 225

Tied up a 1/4" amsteel tether tonight. Have to pick up some large needles to stitch it in a few areas, but think my idea will work.
