Giving it a try ..since I waiting for my very first saddle and gear to show figured I would put a platform together
Close to being done just need to get some bolts ..and take the riser to work and hog out some weight .and possibly chuck up a piece in the lay to turn out a versa button

Where’d you settle on how to attach strap for camming the platform?
Didn't need to make any changes. See post #25 (page 2) for pics of my setup. I'm using a Lonewolf strap on one and an XOP strap on the other. I'm using a small dyneema runner on the one side and using a carabiner to attach strap to that. This eliminates any metal on metal contact while hunting. I'd be stepping on that carabiner if it was connected directly to the platform. The platform sits right in the middle of the 9" post when setup up. I've only hunted a couple of times with it so far and its working perfectly (about 7 hours total). Cams over very easy and doesn't budge. No problems with my size 13 boots.

So this happened, not sure how but they must have jumped into my cart on eBay.

Going to try a quick release pin instead of a bolt to make it easier to pack. These are so small it packs well already, but taking it apart would even be better. Making one for my daughter to use and throwing one in the spare parts bin.

I've logged about 30 hours on my platform so far this season and killed two deer from it. Zero complaints. Only thing i might do at some point is put some kind of non-slip stuff on the platform as it is a little slick when wet and will squeak against your boots. I have the carabiner attached directly to the platform, but i might change that to attach it to a dyneema runner

He just listed 4 more, one sold already and 3 left. https://ebay.us/wbhrwG
Wonder where he is getting these. He has combined shipping for me before, just ask. Seller is jasosumme (not affiliated in any way).

I should order a few more. I like it better than the lone wolf / xop seat platform.

I might keep mine for a spare but other than that I honestly didn't care for them. Did anyone else get pain on their feet from the little raised lip on the perimeter of the platform? I went back to the xop

I thought the rounded lip on the front of the platform makes it a little more comfortable when leaning. I havent tried a XOP platform though so cant compare.

Finished one today...

I used 1” steel spacers inside the post over all three bolts and that has the old nuclear power side of my mind fretting galvanic corrosion.

Thinking about blasting the inside with great stuff foam to deaden noise.

Nice! If you do the foam let us know if it is worth it. I really haven't noticed noise being a problem with mine (except when folding it up to put in my pack). Also, keep an eye on those v-brackets as those are designed for climbing sticks so the sticks are farther away from the tree. I like using the tree brackets from XOP which are stouter and bring the platform closer to the tree.

Will do and thanks for the heads up. I’ve got two more of these platforms so I’ll order the XOP brackets and make one with them next then decide what I want to do for he third one.

One issue I’m going to run into though is I ordered 3’ of 6061 so I could make 4 platforms with no waste. But.....I’m a surveyor so I measured 0.9’ instead of 9” when I cut the first stick

Guess I’ll decide whether to have 3 and some scrap or just make the next 3 just under 8.5”.......

I don't think there's any magic in the 9" number - someone made one like that and it stuck. I think you'd be fine with 8.5" and that's what I would do. I've got two more to make myself once I get some tubing. Just checked and XOP is still showing out of stock for the six point bracket. Lone Wolf has an offset bracket but I haven't used that before.

Hey guys just an FYI...
I would be cautious if using the LW climbing stick vee -bracket on platforms (see pic in post #116), especially if you plan on camming them over to lock them tight to the tree. Those brackets are not designed to take a compression load and will open up (flatten out) and subsequently slip on the tree. A few days ago I finished welding up my first DIY stand (in my free time at work of course, haha!) and was testing it out, all sorts of proud with my final project when a few minutes of moving around the platform (only a foot or so off the ground but tethered in) caused it to unexpectedly loosen up and shift. Initially I thought I stepped on the LW buckle and the strap loosened but when I pulled it off the tree I could clearly see the vee bracket splayed open.
If I can figure out how to upload pics I will.
