Louisiana Saddle Hunter's Thread

Okay guys I'm looking at booking a lodge at poverty point for a tensas hunt January 3rd through the 7th. The cost for six guys in the lodge would be $150 per person. So far I'm a definite and so is One Other Member. I have one maybe from an out of state hunter who won't know till the last minute. If he comes I'll crash on the couch. Sorry y'all I'm not real great at playing these kind of things so I'm looking for 4 people I would like to join in. That would give each man his own bed to sleep in and less my buddy from out-of-state comes in and like I said I'll take the couch in that instance. That would also lower the cost of every man by a few dollars. So are there four of y'all that are interested in going?

What's up fellas. New to saddle hunting this year and relatively new to this forum. I live in Baton Rouge and hunt in Liberty, MS. Really getting into this mobile hunting thing and wanting to hunt some local WMA's. I love Womack's approach, it just plain works. I am running a Mantis saddle, waiting on a predator, just made some dyneema rope for my API's, and plan on cutting my API's down next. I have only gotten one shot out of my saddle this year and made a bad shot on a buck, completely my fault, jacket rubbed (37 for the high that day) and he threw up and stared at me on my draw. Enough rambling... Good luck on y'alls hunt in Tensas!

Nice to meet all my fellow LA saddle hunters here!

I hunt mostly in Sherburne but a couple of buddies and I always take a couple of trips to tensas every year as well. I'll actually be hunting up in tensas from January 1st to 8th this year. we always stay at the Hunter's bend campground. I typically always bring my climber and lock on but this is the first year in tensas that I'm going to try saddle hunting as well. I'm hoping to have my mantis delivered in time, otherwise I'll have to use my DIY saddle, but I would much rather have my mantis.

At a friend's camp just east of Tallulah. We(the guys here)had talked about staying at poverty point, but there's not enough interested to fill a cabin. Y'all tent camping, camper?

For this trip, we always stay in the Hunter's Bend cabins. We're gonna be in cabin #9 (our usual cabin). We actually always reserve the cabin for the next year at the end of the prior year's hunt. Haha

Thanks for the invite,
Prairieville here and also new to the saddle. I hunt in a club in union church Miss pretty much exclusively. Made a few hunts so far with the Mantis and my modded helium sticks. My WE stepladders just came in last night so I will be putting in some time with them and the 5 step aider over the next 2 weeks. The Tensas trip sounds like a good time but timing also lines up with the Rut on my

Not a saddle hunter yet. I just lurk here. I hunt in the southwest part of the state, & make a January hunt in Yancey, for the last few years. Got interested in this, when I sold some gear to BCsportsman.

Skip Yancey, go to Tensas with these fellas! If I didn’t already have plans I would jump in.

Tensas may not be open if gov shuts down
Well I for one am glad I don't follow politics, watch tv, or listen to the radio. And I'm going to pretend like I did not read this, LOL. They'll have to have a roadblock or I'm going in.
