What rifle is everyone using?

Last year I used a 300 blackout in an AR platform in a pistol format. I hunt almost exclusively thick woods and swamps so a shorter weapon is preferred for me. I also think a short rifle is ideal in a saddle.

I’m seriously considering purchasing a Ruger American ranch rifle as my next deer rifle. The 16 inch threaded barrel has me jonesing. I am leaning towards the 7.62 x 39 or the 243.

If you like the Ranch Rifle, check out the Savage 110 Super Scout. I love Ruger but the Accutrigger on the Savage blows the stock Ruger American trigger out of the water.

I have a Ruger Ranch in 450! Incredible gun. If you put a MCarbo spring in the trigger for $19 it if fantastic

I have the 450 in the Ruger Go Wild form. I have not shot anything with it besides paper. Extremely fun and accurate.

That 7.62x39mm in a bolt action is something

A 7.62x39 in a bolt action will be my next firearm acquisition, when the $ greens up.

I’m shootings the Hornady Black ammo. It’s a little dirty but more accurate than I can shoot. I was easily cutting holes at 100 and I don’t consider myself a good rifle shooter. They are loud though.

That’s why I like the threaded option for a can!

I use a Winchester 70 .243 and a Browning A- bolt medallion in 7mm wsm and a traditions .50 Cal muzzleloader

Can't remember if I posted already, but I just picked up a Thomson compass in 308. With the longer shots I'm hoping to get with the saddle I'm hoping it will do the job. Will also have my 45-70 in camp for the thick stuff

I have an old Remington model 788 in a 243 that has killed well over a hundred deer (damage control permits and deer season). Definitely would fall into the "tool" catagory and not in the good looks. Trigger has a lot of creep but the old gun is actually pretty accurate.

Nice, This year I'll be hunting with grandma's old Savage 30-30. Poor man's 788. I got a little carried away with the mods. She had the stock cut to fit her. I didn't what replace the stock so I've added a recoil pad and cheek riser. Was planning to use Hornady LeverEvolution FTX but now I have to go with MonoFlex in CA. I get lead free regulations for bird shot but not so much for big game. It seems the state is sold out of lead free at the moment. I waited in the line for ammo at BassPro for an hour yesterday. I eventually gave up and went home empty handed. The wife was like "just go buy something you can get ammo for". Enough said.

Indiana just legalized rifles within the last few years. High powered only on private land though. For the longest time it was shotgun and muzzleloader only for firearms. Started with a Mossberg 500 12ga shooting slugs. Bought a CVA Accura V2 a few year ago. It shoots as far and as accurate as I'll probably ever need around here. Can use it on public as well as private property. Probably going to switch it over to Blackhorn 209 this season. I will probably get a rifle at some point but the smoke pole and bow get it done for now.

T/C Encore 50 cal muzzy with Leupold VX2 3x9 for black powder season
Switch out barrels for rifle season to a Bullberry custom stainless .260 22” barrel topped with Leupold VX3 compact 3x9

Check out the Ruger Gunsite Scout. Short rifle, less cumbersome than an AR platform.

I will be dusting off my CVA Accura MR this weekend.

Mossberg 4X4 Stainless, 7mm, it's my rainy day, spitting snow, long range, brush busting go to everyday rifle.
Prior to that my go to was my O3-A3 sporterized in 30-06, that I inherited. I got a little worried about the abuse I giving it, so I invested in a new go to.
