That's the load I shoot. Nothing better for squirrels. Love toting my citori on pretty days.I’m in. The old Citori 20ga has a bunch of high brass #5s sitting in the safe that it’s been dying to eat. Time to let it fly.

I have an original production year 16 gauge wingmaster that gets used occasionally, a CZ 452 for days when I feel sporting, a buckmark for when I feel masochistic, and a single shot H&R 20 gauge for when it's time to make meat.My Citoris are for the pretty days too. I’ve got a 16ga Auto 5 for when the rains come, also throwing #5 and a lever action .22 with a peep sight for when the leaves are down. Getting excited for the season just thinking about it.
I think yard squirrels are probably smarter than your average woodland squirrel, since they manage to dodge cars and chihuahuas, but I doubt they can count or manipulate triggers.Do yard squirrels with and pellet gun count?
Hard to have a tiebreaker, seeing as I shot the only 2 squirrels that lived there.Tiebreaker at ft Stewart in February?
Squirrel pot pie is the best I've done. But I don't remember the recipe. I think I just took a standard chicken pot pie recipe and threw in some squirrel I cooked in a crock pot.Rule #8 any chance you'll share the recipes with the amateur squirrel hunters around here
You're off to a strong start! I can't start working on them until this Sunday.View attachment 15899

What is a black squirrel killed from saddle while wearing crocs worth?Who'a ready to put the Alabama Hammer-Slammer on a big, freak-nasty limb-chicken? I know I'm ready for the tiny little bodies to hit the FLOOOORRRRR!
Rules are simple
1. Squirrels killed over bait piles and mineral licks SHALL NOT be counted. However, if it is legal in your state, you can submit kills that were made at night with a spotlight.
2. This is a family friendly event, and we encourage participation from The Little People. A member who takes a kid hunting may shamelessly count said kid's squirrels as his own.
3. We all want to portray hunters in a positive light. Please refrain from "Great White Hunter" poses, and make best efforts to clean up your kill. Photos should capture the majesty and dignity of your quarry. Make sure to tuck the tongue in, wipe any blood/spittle from the mouth, and if necessary plug the nostrils with cotton.
4. While not required, hunting squirrels with the aid of a saddle is encouraged.
5. Same applies for Crocs.
6. Please DO NOT ask when ANY gear from ANY manufacturer will ship to your address. I ain't Santa or the FedEx guy!
7. Trash talking is encouraged, but insults regarding a gentleman's dog or squirrel-killin' pole shall not be tolerated.
8. Any and all recipes alluded to are to be PM'ed to @Nutterbuster immediately upon request. Failure to abide by this rule shall result in contest dismissal.
9. If ya ain't got a sense of humor, go get one before you join in.
10. NutterBuster wins.View attachment 15824
Heck, I'll say double points for interesting color phase variations, double for fox squirrels, and half points for 'munks. What is a black squirrel killed from saddle while wearing crocs worth?
I find it to be the opposite. Too close and you really have to know your pattern and "feather" them. It takes me a second to figure that out, and sometimes you don't have a second. Far away (30-50 yards), and I can tear their little tails up with a good choke and high brass #5s. Just throw up and shoot. Much easier than trying to get a bullet through the canopy at a moving target with a rifle.Too easy at close range and too difficult at long range.
pretty dog is that an Irish setter?Too bad we found this guy already deceased. View attachment 16292View attachment 16292

Thanks, but i don't figure I'll squirrel hunt anymore until january or so. Deer season opens in 19 days and I've got a couple good bucks to hunt. Also me and the mrs are expecting kid #2 next Tuesday or so, and closing on a house around the end of the month hopefully. My time is stretched thin!!You're off to a strong start! I can't start working on them until this Sunday.
But I know a beech tree or two that looks like every squirrel in the county is chowing down on it.
