LWCG Ambush Platform

I’ve been told they already have replacements ready based on some issues with the stands and sticks. The bolts they used passed stress tests. Sounds like they may also be rethinking the design - maybe something like the original versa button? Another post shows an image from LWCG with a platform using a button very similar to those used on the XOP stands.

What do you mean by "they have replacements ready"? Are they going to be sending out replacement bolts? Do we need to contact LWCG?

Yes and yes. I don’t know what those replacements are, but they are aware of the two bent bolts.

I really think an AlumiButton with a grade 8 bolt would not bend. Hear me out ... the width of the button around the bolt would provide more surface area against the post preventing it from bending. I have no idea what I'm talking about but sounds like it would be strong enough without having to drill.

I hope you're right because that's what I plan to do. Happy I have a dano button and bolt laying around

How much does the platform weight without the strap? And has anyone tried it with a versa strap or Amsteel daisy chain?

It's kinda silly we have to replace a bolt on a $300 platform. Couldn't they have gone with the $3 bolt instead of the $1.50 one?
Completely agree. If I didn't already know how much I appreciate a larger platform I'd be ready to send mine back for a refund.

Maybe I'm ignorant to this, but what is your affiliation to Lone Wolf custom gear? When you say "you've been told", was it someone with some decision making ability at Lone Wolf custom gear who told you this? Additionally, will this be an across-the-board replacement, or will they only replace as contacted? Sounds to me like they're aware of a potential across-the-board issue.

No affiliation whatsoever, so I don’t speak for them. I happen to know Brad Kuhnert. I also don’t want to turn this into a customer service thread. We’ve been down that road before on here. I can’t speak to how they’ll replace bolts, but they are definitely aware of a potential issue across the board.

Is it known how many units were produced in this initial offering?

Depending on numbers I see this going one of 2 ways.

1. Tethrd Predator Gen 1 method of replace as they break.

2. Mail out the questionable part for the user to replace.

What are the chances of a LECG recall and repair? Seems like the most costly and disruptive alternative. I would imagine a certain level of certainty of failure would have to be present to get that ball rolling.

I understand and thank you for your answer.

I would imagine folks will start getting bolts in envelopes. Seems the easiest way to fix it.

Although, I will most likely be drilling mine to give the bolt more contact if I decide to keep it.

They could also redesign the post and just send the new post out. But they will probably just start with sending a new bolt out.

I've already sent LWCG two communications regarding the need for a new bolt to be overnighted to me. Haven't heard a word back yet
