OOAL Sticks

Pack pretty sweet on the hybrid. If this works as well as I think it might, theres a chance I actually use more than one stick on occasion...LIES, ALL LIES...HAHA

Would like to see how these stack together.

I don't think they stack together. You just bundle them together and secure them. I could be wrong though.
That's the thing. Can't really tell. If they stack nice that would be a plus.

What size shoe you wear?
That's a personal question! Just leave my shoes out of this friend.
If the deep v is for stand off, why manufacture with the teeth so close to the post (unless your gonna strap them to a 2" sapling). Several manufacturers do it this way.
I like the product and am not knocking it, just seems a waste of manufacturing cutting teeth so deep inside the v.

This tree was about 4-5” diameter at hunting height. Not my favorite but it was in the right spot. Someone mentioned why they think deep V standoffs are not good, here’s one reason why they are.

This tree was about 10” in diameter. A lot more “normal”.

I’ve made two hunts with the sticks. Fiddle factor is no different than regular sticks in my opinion. The time added to deploy the steps is minor in comparison to the hassle of carrying sticks to me. There is the potential for noise like any other metal thing. Just be careful and no noise.

I swore I saw someone mention that they wanted to know if they stacked for packing with the steps deployed. They don’t “nest” tight like other sticks, due to the knobs and design. But if you’re strapping to the front of a pack, they’ll scoot tight enough together to get you out in a jiffy. I just wrapped one strap around all the sticks and the seat of the hybrid, then used the leg straps to secure the pile. I walked 1.5 miles out up and down steep hills and busted my butt no less than three times. They didn’t move or make noise. It ain’t perfect but it’s doable. I’d rather take the time and fold them flat.

On one of his FB posts he said 1.5# and 22” . A picture of them stacked showed both standoffs and steps turn inline to stack. And they aren’t 1” tubing either. Look forward to seeing them at the ATA

Used a pack for this hunt to try the sticks out on there. Folded flat for walk in, deployed and strapped to front of pack for walk out.

Note - the only thing holding them on front of my pack is tribe one packtachs and cargo net. Basically it’s bungee. Definite advantage of light sticks.

It was about a half mile walk and two mile bike ride each way. Plenty of bumps and slips and no issues. Still think I’d prefer to fold them flat every time. D2C71F81-5E09-4D1E-809E-2F9E01381826.jpeg3D7F0D32-709C-4BA5-AC28-FB34CBE1C11C.jpeg1D7CBB49-0D3D-4408-83FF-D9513628F929.jpeg

If you can only stack two together then the Achilles heel of these sticks is the problem it’s supposed to be solving. Packability... They look neat but I don’t know. The more I analyze them the less I like them....

@kyler1945 can you side stack more than two together?

They will side stack. They won’t “nest” tight. Personally I prefer the profile of two stacks of two side by side over 4 on top of each other. Because the steps have to be 1” or so deep, your stack of four is 4” deep. The way two nest together, each stack is about 1.5” deep.

I will try to get a picture of carrying them four deep on the hybrid and the pack. Just doesn’t seem like something I would actually do though...

Thanks for addressing my question.
I don’t want to rely on a pack for carrying sticks. 2x2 works great attached to your hybrid or a stand but half the season I didn’t even carry a pack and the other half it was just a badlands eastern day pack. I’d much rather carry them slung over a shoulder on my side.
