The buck stops here

I'm shooting a Prime centergy air. Bought it used from proshop staff in 2018. (2017 model). Really like the bow. Good luck fellow short draw!

What bow are you shooting? I have a 26” draw and am looking to upgrade to a new one next year. Looks like most in my draw length will lose a ton of speed with a heavy arrow.

At a shorter draw length your arrow might be a lighter spine (.300 vs .250) compared to someone like myself with 29” draw. Due to the length I have to shoot a stiffer arrow. With that said, it’s easier to achieve a higher FOC with a shorter arrow, an arrow with regular (non lighted) nocks, and an arrow without wraps. All of which could also make your arrow heavier.
These “heavier and higher foc” arrows also maintain velocity much better down range than a lighter weight (grains) arrow. Given the fact the arrow much be flying straight for this to be true. Less energy loss in other words or greater efficiency.
Just for comparison sake...I went from a 445 grain hunting arrow to a 623 grain arrow. My sight had to be moved down For 20 yards (maybe 2” drop). I thought here we go...the arrow drop will be crazy right?!? Not really at all...I moved to 30 yards, almost the same impact (within 1” low). Stepped back to 40 maybe 1-2” low, Eventually 60 yards about 3” low with my previous pin gaps of my 445 grain arrows. My speed with 445 was 277 FPS, and with 623 grains was 245 FPS. So the difference is certainly downrange velocity is maintaining better.
I think the drop might surprise you, you will have some, but your bow will feel softer at the shot, much less noise and vibration. The arrows are quieter in my opinion also. Just something to consider! Good luck!

But i can assure you that they are gonna lose the advantage of a flatter trajectory.JMO

I can most assure you, this is correct. I decided to try this TOOTH FAIRY bs every has been goin on about. After endless testing and proven results in the field, the absolute MOST y’all are getting out of me is a 300 spine FMJ and 125 grain broadhead. I refuse to give up ANY more trajectory/pin gap. I shoot a 2 pin sight (first pin is 25 yards, second is 40) and there is no more shooting 0-30 easily. There is a 6” drop from 25 to 30 yards.

If there is a big drop in your pins say 20-30 or 25-30 yards, couldn't you just shoot with a 4 or 5 pin sight and sight it in 5 yard increments? Would that be efficient?

Tooth Fairy BS....hahaha that gave me a good laugh!

No. Because then you deal with a cluttered sight picture. I went to a single pin years ago and felt a 2 pin is optimum for my style of hunting. Rarely ever do I have a shot out to 40 yards.

That’s weird
I’m not getting that much drop
Current arrows are 648

New ones will be 785

74lbs on my Mach 1
30.5” draw

Im not either with 623 grain arrow...29” and 71# on one bow 335-340 ibo and 29” and 67# on my other 335 ibo bow. Both were hitting their ibo speed though.

I see more hogs than deer when I'm hunting so I built to handle a big 1 if he comes out....I see flatter trajectory with a heavier arrow....weird

Food for thought, regarding trajectory and arrow weight / FOC. Spend 10 minutes and draw your own conclusions.

Literally this video is the only thing that convinced me to try the heavy setups. I will send you guys some photos of my target next time I shoot.

I want everybody to do me a favor and shoot their 25 yard pin at 30 yards and tell me the results you are getting. Maybe there is something wrong with my bow.

Maybe this might help. It’s what we call in the Marine Corps “battle sight zero”
