So is the doe dead or being life flighted.
Haha. This wins the internet today. Congrats snake. Always rough when it goes that way. Way to stick with it though....always better than not finding one. Team 11 off the mark!!

On the board fellas. Got it done but it was ugly
Ugly you say, not today sir! NOT. TO. DAY.
Dude you came out with a successful harvest, things happen can happen because your not shooting a lifeless stationary target. You did everything a woodsman should to ensure a recovery of the animal!
Now cut ya a backstrap steak bud! S & P's the only choice for me!

Congrats

Awesome! Since you couldn’t shoot her, did you beat her with a stick or choke her out with your bare hands Davie Crocket style? Hey, what kind of sled is that? Looks pretty sweet.

So I suspected she maybe alive still when I went back at noon so as I snuck up to where she was laying I had a sharp hatchet in my right hand and buck knife in my other, kinda ready to end her suffering however I had to but she mist have expired shortly after I left in the morning. Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve used a knife to finish a critter, pigs can be interesting game haha

It’s a skedco military litter. They’re good stuff, they roll up and fit in their own back pack with additional drag straps and gear to hook up to a helo hoist. They had a bunch at work they were getting rid of so I snagged one up. It stays in my truck during season. If you got a couple buddies it has handles all around it and makes for a pretty easy carry out if you rotate sides while carrying.

Well I didn’t get it done tonight. Got to the farm and headed for my tree I prepped in the spring. I was hunting the back corner of a huge field that has a little finger ruining out the deer walk down the edge of this as they browse and head off the property. It’s adjacent to 200 acre wood lot. Anyway upon arriving I find a really nice trail has been blazed in the tiny section of woods. Assuming my uncle was playing on the dozer and adding more trails for the horses. Anyway it made walking in to my tree a breeze and very covert. When I got to my tree there was a hang on and sticks 10 yards away. In a good spot but too far down the hill. There are two other older guys that have permission to hunt this farm but generally they are pretty lazy and don’t even mess with stands or hunting until the first part of November. My first set up of the year went smooth and no hiccups, got in the tree and see a big pile of corn 15 yards in front of the hang on. As I settle into my hunt around 6:15 I see a fork horn walk out into the beans and then more deer start funneling out. I ended up with a button buck and medium doe right below me and a booner doe in the field 20 yards to my left. She must have caught my scent as she started stomping and blowing. Unfortunately I had been watching the deer below me and didn’t see her walking to to my window and was not prepared she blew and stomped and ended up clearing the field.

Fast forward to 7:00 pm a few sprinkles start to drop and a 6 point comes out right to that corn pile, a few moments later a small 8 point. At this point I’m thinking bachelor group where is the big boy.. I can see movement back deeper in the woods and appears to be two does headed right for me. At this same time I start to hear the humm of a side by side.. 7:10 pm prime time low and behold it’s one of the other guys that have permission driving around the field edge. The field gets cleared once again. I stuck it out till the end hoping they would come back out but no dice the rain picked up and as I climbed down I could see deer on the other side of the bean field but couldn’t make out what they were. I ended up getting soaked so kinda glad I didn’t shoot a doe and have to mess with her in the rain..

I have to work the next three nights but Friday Saturday Sunday we have a cold front hitting and should make for some good hunting I will be headed to my best farm for two of those days..

I’m glad my set up went smooth as usually the first one is a cluster..

I don’t know that I needed the extra room of the predator xl and that it’s worth the extra weight and pack room.

Where I hint that would be an amazing sit. Atleast you are in the deer.

Any of you fellas us a predator platform. I sold mine over the summer and I have a genesis 3D holder for a saddle. I’m gonna put it up in the pass it forward thread but figured I’d hit up the old team first, free to a good home.

I don’t use a predator platform but it looks like it would work with mine. I’d love to try it out.

See you in a tree, Ricky

So spent some time in the woods yesterday afternoon. Wanted to accomplish a few things, 1st I wanted to check out a relatively difficult to access part of a wma, 2nd I wanted to find a way to get to a terrain funnel in order to hunt it with out potentially bumping deer or crossing trails that eventually lead to the funnel, and 3rd find oaks.
Well I accomplished all three, however the results were somewhat underwhelming... I got in to the remote part of the wma, had to tote waders along to cross a good sized creek. I did not find the sign i was hoping for... there were quite a few oaks that were dropping heavily yet there was minimal deer sign, no fresh droppings, no heavy trails most importantly no ribs or scrapes. On top of that some one was running a chainsaw somewhere in the area, only other way to really get in there is to access from private and even then it's very difficult, so some one did alot of work toting a saw in there.... I did find my access route, only it's very very "out of the way". I actually cross stateline in the process.... that may not be a bad thing, but it means quite a bit of time will spent getting in there. But it accomplishes the goal! Along the way I found more oaks again dropping heavily, they hurt lol. It was quite windy gusting to 35mph, so I brought the bow in the event I was able to happen upon something, only saw one doe, in wv I am not going to shoot a doe, it's to much work to get it back across the stateline with the CWD regs.... all in all, it was a good day, however I didnt find what I hoped to find, but now I know and wont be wasting time trying to make a sit in there....
Now saturday is the statewide opener for PA, the wife gave me the go ahead for the whole day, gonna sit the morning in a new spot that I need the canoe for, scout mid day, then figure out a plan for the evening sit, I still havent gotten doe tags for PA, that is on purpose! I dont want to be shooting does with my bow, potentially missing chances at buck, when I know I can take does in rifle or with the flintlock after xmas...
