Nutterbuster's Treehopper Recon Sling Video

Thanks for the information. A couple other people mentioned that the bridge adjusts, but not easily so I'm not sure if realistically I can do it in the tree. I've seen some people have added an adjustable bridge with oplux, so I will figure something out.

I'm actually thinking about just using a rock climbing harness with my saddles for situations where a shorter bridge is typically used. I also have SRT gear and find the transition from climbing to regular tether difficult when using the same bridge even if it is adjustable. It's one more thing, but I think a separate belay loop would just be easier.

You are welcome. I will say that I don't really adjust my bridge length when hunting - I adjust it to where its most comfortable in my practice time and leave it. I find myself adjusting my tether up and down the tree as needed when going from leaning to sitting so the bridge being a little harder to adjust isn't an issue for me.

Couldn't you use your linesman rope as an adjustable bridge for SRT/DRT climbing. Then at height transfer to your tether direct to your webbing bridge?
Not sure how that would go based on where the linemans loops are positioned.

Did you use cord locks on the shock cord or just knot the ends together? Thanks
I use small zip ties for cord locks on shock cord. They make THE BEST cord locks. You just need to be careful how tightly you zip the tie. Do it click by click until you have them at the correct tightness. Too loose and it doesnt work. Totally tight and it forms a bomb proof loop. Medium tightness and it is adjustable. I'll never use a store bought cord lock again on shock cord.

I ordered a Recon from Mark, customer service was second to none. The Recon is a home run for sure. I’ve done a few 5-6 hr sits in it and can’t complain about anything. My trophyline is going into retirement and my hang on and self climber will be collecting dust I imagine. I hunt all private land, so prepping trees pre-season isn’t an issue. Walking in to hunt it’s like you’re not even wearing a saddle. I did flip the straps as I saw in a video that was posted on here and it did make the saddle nicer for me. Lovin the Recon!

So I tried @Allegheny Tom suggestion of flipping the webbing on the Recon the other day. It definitely tightens things up, especially the back panel in how it reacts with with the bottom panel. It did not work for me; I can see where it would work for someone where the saddle was larger on them. For me I have a small size Recon with a 32" waist and the way Mark has them stock fits perfect. I'm on the upper side for sizing on a small Recon, I can see if I had a regular Recon where this mod might make things even more comfortable.

Flipping the panels caused the top strap to pull tighter which put too much pressure on the small of my back if I had the back panel high and it put pressure on my hip area if worn lower. Like I said earlier if I had a larger saddle I can see where this would tighten things up and increase comfort, but the way it is set originally provides the perfect support.

Just a thought for people to keep in mind when they are thinking of doing this mod; where you are on the size spectrum of the saddle matters. Although, it is a really easy mod and just as easy to put it back the way it was. That said this is an awesome little saddle and I am very happy that I bought one.

That one of the great things about the Recon. The straps are easily flipped and if it doesn't work as well then they can be easily flipped back.

Ordered last Tuesday, got the size email Wednesday. Got my saddle today, Monday. I am thrilled with it so far. I love that it is actually smaller than my sitdrag and rch. Very comfortable.

I just got mine last week. Hunted twice out of it so far and it is nicer than the sit drag, tactisaddle, Mantis and H2 that I previously owned. It’s so nice to have an adjustable seat and bridge and the only metal parts are rubber coated. I notice the guy from Madhunts on YouTube did a review on pretty much every saddle and is now hunting with the recon sling also. Funny how the Anderson style sling got it right from the beginning.

I emailed Mark last Monday. He told me they were experiencing high order volume and are trying hard to process orders. He told me 1-1 1/2 weeks so fingers crossed its here this week!

I ordered on 9/25 and it shipped on 10/9 and arrived today, 10/12. My first impressions are fantastic. The thing is built well, the free dump pouch is great and I love the belt. I'm looking forward to playing with it and doing a more thorough review.

I received mine last week and did one hunt from it this weekend... I’ve been trying to incorporate a screamer into my system for added safety, but find that if I use that the added length requires a bit higher tether, above my forehead standing, and based on the way the saddle was riding with quite a bit of pressure on the front of the bottom panel I suspect a lower tether may be more comfortable. Any comments on tether height and general comfort?

There's a lot to play with. The two panels take some getting used to. Some folks flip the straps in the plate to get a different feel. I found that letting the "top" panel with the linemans loops become the "bottom" was comfortable.

I'm one of the guys who has slowly lowered their tether over 4 years or so. On the ambush, I run it about sternum high. On a ros or smaller platform where I want to sit more I run it maybe chin height.

Still waiting on mine. Hopefully it ships soon. I'd like to try it out at least once this season, but I suppose we will see.

Everyone had all year to pick up a Recon with quick shipping (I caught and released 2). Then Nutterbusters does a video, the ESS drops and season starts and all of sudden everyone wants one! Whatdya expect haha!

Any idea if those snazzy screw-in pedals are available to purchase?

You'd have to ask Mark. He said he planned for them to be available this season, and greenlighted me doing a video. But he also said he got unexpectedly busy in the aftermath of the recon review i did. Not sure if I should apologize to him for that or not.

I am honestly not privy to a while lot of what goes on at treehopper. Me and Mark talk once every few months, but we're not bestest buddies and I'm not on the payroll. I'm about as in the loop as you are

Yeah I'll give him a call. Figured I'd see if he'd given them to you and said something about them being available if you called or something.
