Nutterbuster's Treehopper Recon Sling Video

I twisted the webbing today and it’s way better for me. I was having trouble getting the upper half snug especially for walking and climbing but now it fits my 31” waist like a glove. The molle is unchanged but it does effect the linesman loops but with the way they linesman angles up it’s not a problem. Check out the video posted above. I haven’t tried the shock cord belt though because I think with my sticks and platform hanging from the sling during the climb will be too much weight and pull the sling down? Plus I haven’t felt an issue with the stock belt.

The awesome thing about the shock cord is when you go from hanging to standing (or anytime you go slack) It keeps everything exactly where you left it when you sit back down without any adjustment.

I just tried it this afternoon. Having the lineman loops and Molly on the inside was weird for me. I didn't notice a difference in comfort, but it's so easy to twist the panels and see for yourself that I'd encourage everybody to do it

Hey Nutterbuster If your molle was on the inside, you did it wrong. Watch the video I linked above.

When I say inside, I mean when you laid the saddle down with the molle facing up, the panel with molle was beneath the other panel. Not that it was facing my butt when I put it on. Still wrong? I didn't think there was but one way to twist the webbing.

Exactly right.
And the shock cord belt is a mod...it can be done in a dozen different ways but one important thing is to make sure the shock cord belt is adjustable, meaning that it can be made completely tight...ALL of the stretch can be taken out as needed. When you do that, it becomes a rigid belt that accomplishes everything the stock belt does. But the shock belt does even more as @Wirrex described...it stays in place when you put slack in the tether/bridge.

You had it right. I thought you meant the molle was facing your butt when wearing. Carry on.

Got my recon this past week. Initial 'play period' with it seems like it will work and is as comfortable as any saddle I've had. I'll use this in special situations where I have a long or tough terrain walk in. Coming from a climber background, I will mostly use my LWHC for platform and my LW sit-n-climb top to get to hunting height. Total platform and climbing method weight is an honest 10 lbs....

I know, this is not a cool way to climb but I like it....lol

How many days from the order date did it take to get to you? I ordered mine Sunday morning. Im like a fat kid sitting outside an ice cream parlor waiting for it to open.

Got my recon today. I wasn’t really expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. Very comfortable and extremely well made. Blows the ESS away IMO.

Gonna try flipping it to see how that is.

How's it work with the LWHC? Did you get the webbing bridge and if so, do you find it difficult to shorten when climbing and lengthen at height?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but I just ordered a recon and also use the LWHC platform where possible.

In my initial 'play time' I didn't think The bridge adjusts as easily as my flex webbing bridge did - but maybe it will after playing with it more.

I use the LWHC with a sit-n-climb top(which I move around to backside of tree at hunting height and stand on LWHC) - I just find I can climb with less effort, more control and quieter with the sit-n-climb top. Now you young studs may laugh at that but one day you will be where I am in life lol lol .....

I plan on using the leg straps - just makes me feel like I am more 'secured'....

Thanks for the information. A couple other people mentioned that the bridge adjusts, but not easily so I'm not sure if realistically I can do it in the tree. I've seen some people have added an adjustable bridge with oplux, so I will figure something out.

I'm actually thinking about just using a rock climbing harness with my saddles for situations where a shorter bridge is typically used. I also have SRT gear and find the transition from climbing to regular tether difficult when using the same bridge even if it is adjustable. It's one more thing, but I think a separate belay loop would just be easier.

Couldn't you use your linesman rope as an adjustable bridge for SRT/DRT climbing. Then at height transfer to your tether direct to your webbing bridge?

The shock cord belt is the way to go. Absolutely no doubt in my mind about that. I've tested every version of belt Mark has tried and shock cord is the best. It's an easy mod that doesn’t require any alterations to the sling. Try it and if you don't like it, then easily go back to the factory belt.
Did you use cord locks on the shock cord or just knot the ends together? Thanks
