Team 11 Thread

Well it’s been awhile but I’ve been out a number of times and have been in them pretty much every time. Had some close calls with a nice 8 but he’s in a high pressure area and he’s smart. Came into 50 yards twice but didn’t like what I was putting down I guess but responsive to calls. The old rattling antlers on a string to the ground trick almost got the best of him twice. Good trick if you guys haven’t tried it and like rattling, I have them tied together and a loop in the middle of a string so I can lower to the ground and jolt them around. It sounds like two buck tickling antlers and makes some ground noise. Best part is if you have some thick around you at ground level so the buck can’t see, you can still rattle without giving you away if the buck is close and the sound is coming from the ground not a tree. Anyways had a couple other nice ones come by but not in a shooting lane or out of range. But learning a bunch of new areas and getting better. Heading to PA for the rut in a week and I’m pumped for that and tomorrow is opener for rifle here in LA. Hope everyone’s season is going well. Keep killin em fellas! Congrats to those that have grounded some venison already.

They are moving good in northeast Ohio. Dad messed up on a nice 8point last night, my Amish neighbor shot a stud 2.5 year old 12pt wish he would have made it would have been a tank. I went out last night doe hunting I saw 5 bucks and 8 does, only had 1 doe I could have shot and she had a small 8 on her tail. Figured I better wait till my wife cracks one before I whack a doe In a good spot.. Sabrina’s first saddle hunt will be tomorrow hope to report back with good news.

I had a successful hunt this morning. I’m calling this one a 3 pointer. Should be a good eater. Released the arrow at 7:15 at 25 yards. Shot must have hit a branch. The deer only had a small wound by the butt and on the elbow. Apparently I got the femoral artery. The blood was great for the entire track. Found it about 100 yards from the shot. Saw another 6ptr after I shot this one. Wish the shot was better but I’m thankful for being lucky this morning.

Only saw one doe was a pretty rough night got really cold and wind never let up.. supposed to get back to normal temps this week. She’s a fan of saddle says she likes it better than the hang ons or climbers she’s used. My dad missed a good buck Saturday night, and saw a bunch of does and two small bucks tonight.. I’m on my own doe hunting the next two days then back to taking the wife out..

I do have this joker on cam, and found some old trail cam pics of him he has to be 7 or 8 would love to get her on him.

Well boys I’m so happy for my old man. This is his first buck over 120” at 69 years young.. unfortunately my dad doesn’t fall into our saddle Hunter community lol. he shot this stud sitting in a deer blind he made from my kids old bus stop shack. Wearing his blue Jean bib overalls and smoking a pipe. Deer was around 30 yards slightly quartering he drove one up through chest into the cavity he ran around 80 yards.

I did see a piebald tonight she’s been at the farm for at least 5 years but must be a dwarf she had two yearlings with her but they didn’t have any white on them.
