Saw one doe this morning but that was it for today. Back at it in the AM and shifting about 40 yards closer to a cut cornfield.
Awesome jobFinally. 7 yard shot. Watched him from 100 yards out just cruising as rut is winding down here in PA. Quartering away shot. Hit the off shoulder. Actually Broke the off shoulder but i couldn't tell as he ran hard. Pretty impressive tooth of an arrow with 550 grain arrow. Ran 50 yards then lost sight of him. Sounded like he ran another 75 yards and crashed. No blood for first 50 yards. Then it became easy tracking for 35 yards. He didnt go as far as it sounded in the dry leaves.View attachment 39664View attachment 39670

Thats why we do what we do! It's hard to duplicate buck fever and knees shaking! What I would suggest is shooting some slickheads to get some practice. Even the ladies get my heart racing to be honest.Full disclosure: this is only my second year hunting with bow only and I’ve never shot a buck with my bow.
So, 0745 I had the big 9pt that I’ve been hunting all season come in perfect. The problem was I had to watch him for over 5 minutes. Where He came from however, I didn’t have a shot until he was inside 10 yds. At that point I was so shook up I literally COULD NOT get my bow drawn back. I tried and I tried and it just wasn’t working. I was shaking like a leaf to the point my arrow was bouncing off the rest. Haha I feel like an absolute idiot but I know it happens. It was ridiculously fun though. Hopefully I’ll get another crack at him and it works out differently.. sorry fellas

Keep your chin up. It happens. Hunting is as much of a mental game as anything. Just get back after it and good things will happen!!Yea it hurts bad, especially when its always happening to me. It happened last year with a decent buck and now this year. I just want to kill a deer, a little spike or a small doe. I don't even care about big bucks right now, I just want some meat.
